January 2016 Wrap Up

Good Morning All My Fellow Readers :)
As you can probably tell from the title, today I am here to do my January 2016 reading wrap up. I honestly can't believe it's already February, it feels like January went by so fast, and that spring and summer are honestly just around the corner. I guess part of why January went by so fast for me is I discovered some pretty amazing new books that month (and unfortunately some not so amazing ones as well), but I'm here today to talk about all the books I read during January 2016.

Thankfully once again January was a month in which I rated no books I read one star. To anyone who hasn't read one of my previous wrap ups, I try my best never to give a book one star, as I know how much work an author puts into a novel, and just because I don't care for it, doesn't mean someone else won't, so I try to only give a book one star if I absolutely can't find one redeeming quality about it, which for me doesn't happen too too often. So let's get on with the wrap up, starting with my two star books:

Two Star Books:

Summer Love by Jill Santopolo: I chose this one strictly because I used to love choose your own adventure books when I was little. However I found this book to be a tad immature, and in my opinion, would probably be aimed at a younger demographic than normal YA books.

Little Vampire Women by Louisa May Alcott and Lynn Messina: Not gonna say much about this one since I already did a full review on my blog earlier this month.

The Art Of Wishing by Lindsay Ribar: I can honestly say I've been anticipating reading this book for a long time. I was very excited at the prospect of a YA book about genies, since I don't think I've read anything like that before. Unfortunately, this book was my biggest disappointment the whole month, and I came dangerously close to rating it one star. I really really really had to try and find one redeeming quality to give it a two star rating, but I don't personally recommend it, and I will not be reading the other book in this series.

Good Enough For a Princess by Carol Moncado: This was an inspirational fiction novel that was included in one of the free ebook emails I get from book bub one day. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a sucker for the famous/royal person falling in love with the average everyday person type of books, and so I was excited for this one, but unfortunately I found this whole novel just to be highly improbable (and yes I know most of these type of books could be called that), but this one felt even more so.

That's it for the two star books I read this month, so let's move on to three star books:

Three Star Books:

The Beginning of After by Jennifer Castle: This one didn't receive a higher rating simply because I didn't feel a whole lot happened after the accident that occurs in the first few pages. It was a really interesting story, but it just didn't seem to have a whole lot to the plot to keep the reader entertained. I will be interested to try more books from this author in the future however.

Six Months In Montana by Pamela M. Kelley: A simple, sweet romance that I enjoyed about a marriage of convenience.

Love on the Lifts by Jill Santopolo: Another choose your own adventure novel. I found this one a little bit less juvenile, and so enjoyed it more than I did Summer Love.

Running Mates by Jocelyn Saal: One of the Sweet Dreams novels that I enjoyed as a young teenager, and still like to read once in a while.

Unexpected Gifts by Elena Aitken:  A sweet holiday romance that I really enjoyed. Especially the setting of a cozy, mountain resort.

Unexpected Endings by Elena Aitken: A novella that ties together the couple from Unexpected Gifts, and was a cute addition to the series.

The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman: This one has been in my TBR pile for quite some time, and was a hugely anticipated read for me, especially with how much it's been hyped up. Unfortunately, I was a tad disappointed. I still really enjoyed it, but couldn't bring myself to love it, and this was mainly because I couldn't stand the main female character, Isabel. Her selfishness really really irked me throughout the novel, and it made me think a little less of this book than I was expecting too.

Ever After by Samantha Chase: This is the second novel in the Christmas Cottage series, and it's a really cute, sweet read, but I didn't like it quite as much as the first one.

Southern Charm by Tinsley Mortimer: A cute, kind of Devil Wears Prada, type novel where a sweet, small town southern gal learns that the working world in New York City is a far cry from the sweet, respectful way she was brought up. I did enjoy this one, and I'm glad I took a chance on it.

The Stranger by Anna Banks: A short story about events that happen before Of Poseidon takes place. I highly recommend reading this one if you're a fan of this series like I am.

Snapshot by Angie Stanton: I'm really loving The Jamieson Collection by Angie Stanton, and while I still really liked Marti and Adam's story, it just didn't quite compare to how much I loved Peter and Libby's. I'm really looking forward to reading Garrett's story soon though.

The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes: This was a cute story centered around a high school girl who has her heart broken by her boyfriend, and thanks to advice from a friend, decides to use methods in The Art of War to win him back. These methods include finding a fake boyfriend to make her ex jealous, and soon she begins wondering if her ex was really all she thought he was in the first place.

That's it for the three star books I read in January.

Four Star Books:

The Christmas Cottage by Samantha Chase: This was such a sweet, holiday romance about a couple who knew each as teenagers, and bad blood between them has kept them apart sense. However, the spirit of the season, and a magical myth associated with a family cottage, just might be enough to bring them back together again. I highly recommend this for anyone, who like me, loves sweet romances centered around Christmas time,

The Mistletoe Promise by Richard Paul Evans: Not gonna say much about this one since I did a full review on it earlier last month :)

Of Triton by Anna Banks: I absolutely love this series by Anna Banks, and I really can't wait to finally get around to reading Of Neptune, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Just One Day by Sharla Lovelace: Sharla Lovelace has easily become one of my all time favorite authors. Her book The Reason Is You is without a doubt one of my all time favorite novels, and I absolutely loved this one as well. If you haven't given her novels a try before, I would highly recommend them. This is my third novel by her, and I would absolutely recommend any of the ones I've read.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordian: Last month I had to make an embarrassing confession on my blog in that I had yet to read The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Well now I'm afraid I have to make an even more embarrassing one: January 2016 was the first time I picked up a Rick Riordian novel. Yes, yes I realize how terrible that is, and I'm on my way to correcting this. And as expected, I am loving his books.

Together For Christmas by Katherine Spencer: The newest novel in The Cape Light series. I've enjoyed this series right from the start, and I always look forward to the new novel every year during the holiday season to hear how my favorite residents of Cape Light are faring. This one was not one of my absolute favorites, mainly because Molly Harding is not one of my favorite characters at all, but I did still really enjoy it.

Lonestar Secrets by Colleen Coble: Not gonna say too much about this one cause I've already posted a full review on this series.

Lonestar Homecoming by Colleen Coble: Not gonna say too much about this one cause I've already posted a full review on this series.

Summer in a Small Town by Sheila Roberts and Emilie Richards: A cute collection of two novellas that is either an introduction or continuation of a series by these two authors.

That's it for the four star books I read this month.

Five Star Books

Lastly, we come to the best books I read in January 2016!!

Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordian: I can't believe I waited so long to start this series, and I am completely in love with. I love Percy's quirky personality, and also love the friendship between him, Grover and Annabeth. I honestly can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Snapshot by Lis Wiehl: I did already post a full review on this book, so I will just simply say that I loved it and highly recommend it!

Lonestar Angel by Colleen Coble: Once again, I did already post a full review of this series so all I'm going to say is that I loved it, and really recommend it.

Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins: I absolutely love time travel type books, like Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier, and Timeless by Alexandra Monir, and I also absolutely loved this one!

Undeniably Yours by Becky Wade: This was an amazing inspirational fiction book about a woman who's coming to terms with her father's death, and the terms of his will. She's thrown into high society in her Texas hometown, and must live up to certain expectations, which definitely don't include falling for the manager of her father's horse ranch. I also highly recommend this one, and I'm looking forward to continuing on with this series as well.

The Revenge Playbook by Rachael Allen: I'm also gonna only say I loved this one and highly recommend it, because I did a full review earlier.

That's it for all the books I read in January 2016. Thanks for reading everyone, and I will be back soon with another book review.
