Two Reasons to Run by Colleen Coble Review

Hello Friends :) I hope you're all enjoying these last few days of summer before school goes back, and are happily looking forward to fall. Fall is by far my favorite season of the year, and I always eagerly anticipate it's arrival each and every year. In the fall I find myself wanting to read thriller and suspense novels more as it just seems to fit with the aesthetic of the season, and I'm always a happy camper to pick up new titles by some of my all time favorite Christian suspense authors. I don't think it's possible to be a fan of Christian suspense and not love Colleen Coble's books, and today I'm excited to share with you all my review of her upcoming September release. The Secrets in Sandcastles by Rachael Bloome Review

Happy Saturday Friends :) I pray that you've all had a great week, and that you're all looking forward to the weekend. I'm still dealing with some of the issues I talked about in Thursday's Scripture of the Week post , but am trying my best to remain positive and wait patiently on Jesus to help me through it all. Since I've been dealing with a lot, I haven't been able to keep to my regular posting schedule the last few days, but I'm really excited about the book I want to talk about with you all today, and I decided to go ahead and post it on Saturday as I just didn't want to wait. Scripture of the Week: Spiritual Warfare

Hello Friends :) I'm Kirby and I want to thank you all for joining me here on The Preppy Book Princess for both the hardest and most personal blog post I've ever personally written or shared. The last couple of weeks have been a huge struggle personally for me. I didn't really have the motivation to do much of anything, and I've consistently been leaning on my mom, sister and husband for prayer and spiritual motivation. It was extremely difficult and embarrassing for me to be going through such an attack on my faith, and at first I was tempted not to reach out to anyone to ask for help. However, I know that is one way the enemy tries to encroach us believers in his lies. By telling us that what we're going through is personal; that no one else would understand or want to listen. By telling us that everyone else is busy and we have no business taking up their time for our petty little problems. Even by trying to tell us that God wouldn't want to hear about our

The Haunting at Bonaventure Circus by Jaime Jo Wright Review

Hello Friends :) I've been blogging and reviewing for almost five years already, but there is still a part of me that gets excited every single time I get to advance read a title by one of my favorite authors. When I was approved through NetGalley to read Jaime Jo Wright's upcoming release, I couldn't wait to dive into it. I've loved every single one of her books, and as it's getting closer to the end of summer, I was in the mood for a suspense type of novel as I always feel they are so much more fun to read during the fall season. Today I'm looking forward to sharing with you all what I thought about this upcoming release by one of my favorite authors. The Haunting at Bonaventure Circus by Jaime Jo Wright: Source: Publisher via NetGalley Publisher: Bethany House Publication Date: September 1st, 2020 Genre: Christian Fiction/Christian Suspense Thriller Synopsis: 1928 The Bonaventure Circus is a refuge for many, but Pippa Ripley was rejected from its inner circ

First Line Friday: A Sweethaven Romance

Happy Friday Friends :) I hope you're all enjoying the last little bit of summer. Are you sad to see summer come to an end, or are you looking forward to fall? I personally love fall and it's my all time favorite season. However, I always find the changing of the seasons a tad bittersweet, although I'm very much looking forward to all the wonderful things fall brings with it. For today's post, I'm excited to be linking up again with Hoarding Books for another edition of First Line Friday. First Line Friday is a fun, weekly blog meme that simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading. For the last little while, I've been trying to focus on reading the many books I've added to my kindle over the last couple of years that I'd never got around to reading, and I've discovered many amazing books in the process. Today's first line comes from the book I most recently started reading on my kindle. A Sweethaven Rom

Scripture of the Week: Romans 12:10

Happy Thursday Friends :) I pray this week finds you all in good health and good spirits, and I want to thank you all for joining me (Kirby) here on the Preppy Book Princess for another edition of Scripture of the Week. I don't know about all of you but lately the selfishness that has become so apparent in our world has really been wearing on me. It seems like in this time where we all need to be doing our best to help one another out, the me me me mentality has become even more pronounced, and as Christians, we all need to be better than this. We all have our bad days and none of us are supposed to try and be perfect, but we need to do our best to be there for one another and to encourage one another. Romans 12:10 says: "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." This verse speaks of an important truth that we all need to remember-it's not all about us, we need to be putting others first, and doing our best to build each other up in Chr

Until I Met You by Tari Faris Review

Hello Friends :) Can you believe that August is almost already over? I'm personally never too sad to see summer come to an end. Fall is by far my favorite season, and the time period from September through December is my favorite part of the year. However, this summer really seemed to go by fast. Possibly this was due to all the craziness that currently exists within our world, but whatever the reason, it seems a little crazy to me that it's already almost time to start decorating for fall. My hubby is taking some vacation days in September, and while we're not ending up with the big Disney vacation that we'd started planning back in December, we are still looking forward to a few days away, and some time to read and relax. If you also have a relaxing vacation coming up and you're looking for a great read to curl up with, then you definitely want to stay tuned for today's book review. A Joyful Christmas: 6 Historical Stories Review

Hello Everyone :) Have any of you guys started reading Christmas stories yet? It might seem a little early to be asking this question, but I'm definitely one of the type of people who can read Christmas stories really at any time throughout the year. Usually September is when the new Christmas stories for each year start releasing, and today I'm excited to share my review with you all of an upcoming Christmas novella collection. First Line Friday: A Dazzle of Diamonds

Happy Friday Friends :) I hope you've all had a great week, and I want to thank you all for joining me today on The Preppy Book Princess. Since it is Friday, I'm once again linking up with Hoarding Books for another edition of First Line Friday. This fun, weekly blog meme simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading, and today I'm sharing a recent release that I really ended up enjoying. A Dazzle of Diamonds by Liz Johnson: About the Book: Best friends Penelope and Tucker have faced their share of challenges. But finding a lost treasure in time to clear his family's name and win him an election may uncover something they never expected. My Thoughts: This ended up being my favorite of the Georgia Coast Romance books, and I loved that it included two of my all time favorite romance tropes: fake dating and friends to something more. I also love how it's told partly in epistolary style and also includes a time slip element throug

Scripture of the Week: Galations 6:2

Happy Thursday Friends :) I pray that you're all having a good week, and looking forward to the weekend. My hubby actually has a few days off coming up, and I'm looking forward to spending some quality time together, and hopefully to get a few projects done around our house and yard. In last week's Scripture of the Week, we talked about taking our burdens to God, and trusting Him with anything, no matter how big or small. This week, I want to expand on that idea, and talk about a Bible verse that instructs us to help one another with their burdens, and how none of us are meant to carry our burdens on our own. Galations 6:2: " Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." I don't know about you guys, but often when I'm dealing with problems I have a bad tendency to keep it all to myself as I don't want to bother anyone else with whatever is going on. However, I love when my friends and family trust me enough to br

The Christmas Swap by Melody Carlson Review

Hello Friends :) I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. It's been a bit of a tough few days for me personally. I've been dealing with some personal stuff that's kind of dragged my spirits down a bit, but I'm so thankful for Jesus during all these hard times as I know He is always always there for me. With His help I know I can get through anything that comes my way, and I'm forever grateful. One of my favorite things to do when I'm having a tough week is read Christian fiction. I love how uplifting these books are, and since it's August I thought it seemed like the perfect time to go ahead and start reading some of the Christmas ARCs that I currently have from NetGalley. I'm one of those weird people that can read Christmas stories all year long, but I especially enjoy getting to read them in the months leading up to Christmas. Today I'm excited to be shar

An Amish Singing by Amy Clipston Review

Hello Friends :) I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. Are you the type of person who can list a single author when someone asks you who your favorite is? Or are you the type of reader that has a whole list of all the authors you consider your personal favorites? I am definitely the second kind, as there are just so many authors whose books I honestly adore. This list does expand and change continuously, but there are some authors who have basically been on the list since I read one of their books for the very first time. Amy Clipston is definitely one of those authors, and even though I've been book blogging for almost five years now, I still get overly excited every single time I get to advance read one of her beautiful stories. Recently I had the chance to read her upcoming September release which is a lovely Amish Fiction novella collection, and today I can't wait to share with

First Line Friday: Love and a Little White Lie

Happy Friday Friends :) I hope you all had a great week, and that you're all looking forward to the weekend. I don't have too much planned for this weekend, but I'm hoping to get more work done on our home library, and have time to curl up with a couple of the books on my tbr list for this month. Since it is Friday, I'm once again excited to be linking up with Hoarding Books for another edition of First Line Friday. First Line Friday is a fun weekly blog meme that simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. On Tuesday Tammy L Gray's newest book was released into the world, and I adored it. It's definitely one of the best reads I've read this entire year, and I absolutely adore the opening lines. Love and a Little White Lie by Tammy L Gray: Synopsis: After hitting rock bottom, January decides she has nothing to lose in working at her aunt's church--while hiding a lack of faith. A minor deception until she meets the

Scripture of the Week: Psalm 55:22

Happy Thursday Friends :) How are you all doing? I know as this Covid 19 situation drags out longer and longer, it's easy to start feeling anxious and depressed. I'm someone who has always been prone to stressing. For as long as I can remember, the slightest things could make me completely anxious, unable to sleep or eat, and often culminated in stomach ulcers or other health issues. How many of you can relate? The frustrating thing is I should know better. I know that I don't have to do any of this on my own, and that He is always right there beside me, but sometimes it seems like I need to have that reminder. Which leads me to today's scripture of the week. I don't know if any of you are feeling this same way right now, but I pray that if you are this verse will be the reminder you need that He is here. That He is always willing to take on our burdens, and help get us through the tough and scary times. All we have to do is ask! "Cast your cares on the Lord an
