Hallmark Book To Movie Adaptations For Christmas 2017 :)

Good Morning Guys, and Welcome Back to The Preppy Book Princess.

Is anyone else's morning off to a bit of a rough start? I just managed to break my husband's favorite glass, and on top of feeling awful over doing so, I just got the fun job of cleaning up itty bitty pieces of broken glass all over my kitchen floor, and mopping up the milk that seemed to work its way into every crook and crevice in my kitchen.


Oh well, nothing to do about it but move on, and hope and pray that the rest of the day can only go uphill from here.


So considering this morning's events had me not in the greatest mood, I thought today's blog post would be the perfect way to cheer me up.

If any of you aren't familiar with my blog, on top of loving books, cooking, and preppy fashion, I'm a huge fan of made for TV Christmas movies, with the Hallmark Channel's almost always being my favorites.


I've seen literally hundreds of Christmas movies over the last fifteen years or so, and this is a pretty impressive feat considering we don't get the Hallmark Channel in Canada lol.

I'm also the type that can literally watch them all year round, and no joke guys, I was actually just watching A Rose For Christmas last night.


So imagine how unbelievably excited I was to learn that Hallmark is planning 33 new Christmas movies for this year! That's a record amount to begin with, but I'm even more excited to announce that many of them are based on beloved Christmas novels, and I've had the pleasure of reading quite a few of them.


So for today's post, I'd like to share with you guys some of the movies being released this year that are based on books.

All right, let's go ahead and jump right into this year's book to movie adaptations. And since we're still in the early days, there might be even more to 
come  once Hallmark finishes announcing all 33 movies!


First I'd like to start with two that I haven't personally read:

1) The Christmas Train by David Baldacci:

Journalist Tom Langdon is down on his luck, and truly all alone in the world. A cross country journey on a train from D.C. to L.A for Christmas will have reflecting on life's true purpose, and witnessing the innate goodness in the people around him.

(This synopsis is my own abbreviated version of what was posted on Hallmark's website, and is not the full synopsis.)

As I've never read this book, I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm definitely looking forward to watching this one, and possibly reading the book as well.

2) Marry Me At Christmas by Susan Mallery:

Ahhhhh guys I can't even begin to describe how excited I am to learn that one of the beloved Fool's Gold novels is becoming a movie! I haven't personally read this one yet, as I'm still working my way through earlier books in the series, but one of my reading goals for this year was to finish this series by the end of the year, and now I'm even more inspired to do so, as I can't wait to watch this one.

It's going to focus on Madeline, who's recently opened a bridal boutique, and is enjoying helping each bride find their perfect gown. However, she's unprepared for the bride's brother to be none other than movie star Jonny Blaze, and is equally unprepared for the sparks that fly between them. 

I love the small charming town of Fool's Gold, and I can't wait to see how it's adapted on film. I also am really crossing my fingers that many of the Fool's Gold townspeople will be making an appearance!


And now on to the movies being based off of books that I've actually had the pleasure of reading!


1) Maggie's Miracle by Karen Kingsbury:

I'm honestly not that excited about this one, as you guys know I'm not really a fan of Karen's books anymore, but it is a sweet, short story about a woman who lost her husband two years ago, and is worried about the impact it's hard on her son. When she enrolls him in a program to spend time with a father figure, she's unprepared for the man to be the grown up teenaged boy who first taught her the meaning of love.

I did read this one quite a few years ago, and I remembered enjoying it, so hopefully the movie will be enjoyable as well.


2) A Bramble House Christmas by C.J. Carmichael:

I stumbled upon this Christmas story when it happened to be a featured free ebook through Ibooks, and I was completely blown away by the touching story. It ended up being a five star read for me, and I can't even describe how excited I am that Hallmark has chosen to adapt this one! 

This sweet book tells the story of Finn Conrad, who when dealing with his deceased father's estate, becomes suspicious as to why his father left one of his nurses's 50,000 dollars! He travels to the bed and breakfast that the nurse has recently taken over to get to the bottom of everything once and for all, but he's completely unprepared for what he finds when he gets there.

I can't wait to watch this one guys! And I highly recommend reading this one if you haven't already.


3) Engaging Father Christmas by Robin Jones Gunn:

The highly anticipated sequel to Finding Father Christmas which the Hallmark Channel aired last year. I can't wait to get back into Miranda and Ian's world, especially since this one is going to focus on their engagement! As well, Erin Krakow is fastly becoming one of my all time favorite actresses, and I think she played the part of Miranda perfectly.

4) The Christmas Cottage by Samantha Chase:

Lastly, is this adorable romantic novel by Samantha Chase.  And for this one I'm going to share the synopsis directly from It's a Wonderful Movie so all credit to their site

Still only in her mid-twenties, Lacey Quinn has already given up on love. Her heart’s been broken too many times, and now she concentrates on her career as an interior designer in Raleigh, North Carolina. When BFF Ava Callahan asks Lacey to be her maid of honor, she must take on a few responsibilities, including making sure the Callahan family cottage is perfect for the honeymoon. Legend has it that if newlyweds spend their first night there, everlasting love and happiness follow. Lacey isn’t sure she buys into that notion. Still, when she finds herself snowed in there with Charlie, Ava’s brother, Lacey has to reconsider if the little house may hold some romantic magic after all — especially at Christmas.”

This was one of my favorite Christmas reads I read last year, and I honestly can't wait to see how Hallmark adapts it!



Guys I'm so excited for the Christmas season! And I can't wait to watch all these amazing sounding movies, as well, Candace Cameron Bure, Allison Sweeney, Lacey Chabet, and Alicia Witt are all supposed to be starring in new movies!
