In the last few weeks, I've talked about Jenny B Jones' There You'll Find Me a lot. It's without a doubt, my favorite read of the year so far, and I'm already rereading it. You can check out that review here.
So with how much I'd loved and devoured the first book I'd read by her, I was really looking forward to diving into another one of her stories.
I finished my second Jenny B Jones book last week, and today I'm here to share with you all what I thought about it. Keep reading if you're interested in seeing whether or not I thought it compared to There You'll Find Me.

My Review:
2019 was the year that I finally read a Jenny B Jones novel. I fell completely head over heals for Finley and Beckett's story in There You'll Find Me, and I knew I needed more of this author's books in my life as soon as humanly possible. My next choice came in the form of one of her adult fiction titles, Just Between You and Me. Unfortunately, I didn't end up loving this one nearly as much as I did There You'll Find Me, and it took me quite awhile to finally finish it.
The premise of this one sounded like something I'd really enjoy. A career woman is forced to return to her hometown after years away, in order to help the father that she's been estranged from care for her younger sister's daughter. However, I really struggled with the main character, Maggie, right from the get go. She comes across as extremely cynical and sarcastic, and makes a lot of hurtful comments to those around her. While sarcasm is something I'm quite often a fan of, it went too far for my liking with her character, and she quickly became insufferable. A lot of snide comments are made wherein she implies that anyone who hasn't become a huge success in life is not as worthy as she is, and I really never saw her attitude change enough to please me.
Cliches are also rampant throughout this book's plot, and it got a little tiring to read about how most of her hometown still hold's her teenage antics against her, how because she's a successful career woman it's impossible for her to know how to prepare anything that doesn't come frozen in a box, and how she has to make a choice between keeping her career or giving it all up for her family as of course, there's no possible way that anyone could ever have both.
While I did enjoy the highlight on mental health, the small town setting, Jenny's amazing writing, the love interest (Connor), and Maggie's dad and niece, Riley, this one definitely did not live up to the expectations I had for it.
I gave it a rating of three out of five stars, and I think next time I'm going to try another of this author's young adult titles, since I had such a positive experience that way the first time around!
