I've been an avid bookworm for as long as I can remember, and I especially enjoy Christian fiction, young adult fiction, cozy mysteries, middle grade, and speculative fiction.
I recently had a chance to read one of the books my hubby gave me for Christmas, and today I can't wait to share with you all what I ended up thinking about it.

And best of all is Jacob Potter's pumpkin farm where his hay rides, piglet races, pumpkin picking and corn maze are time-honored draws for locals and tourists alike. That's why it's such a shock when Mr. Potter is found dead, hidden under a tarp in the back of Winnie's pickup truck. This certainly betrays Potter's reputation as one of the town's most popular citizens. Fortunately, when it comes to solving a murder, no one has a patch on Winnie. Now, all eyes are on her to do it. Unfortunately, that includes those of the killer who'll do anything to keep an orchard full of secrets buried.

My Review:
Julie Anne Lindsey is one of my favorite cozy mystery writers, and I was really looking forward to diving into this one. I really enjoy the apple orchard setting of this series, the quirky cast of characters, and the way the romance between the main character Winnie and the local town sheriff is slow moving and really gives the reader a chance to become wholly invested in their story.
As someone who loves fall, I really enjoyed how this book is set during the autumn season, as it made the setting that much more atmospheric. One couldn't expect that Winnie could go too long without stumbling upon another dead body, and this time it's the lovely man who ran the town's pumpkin patch with his wife. When his body is discovered in Winnie's truck, she's instantly on edge as the threats soon start rolling in. Only this time, there's even more at stake as her stalker from month's prior has also decided to finally play his hand. Thank goodness Colton's family has decided to come for a visit, as this time with the stakes as high as they are, Winnie and Colton can use all the help they can get.
I really enjoyed this one overall, and found myself reading through it pretty quickly. With how many of these type of mysteries I read, I'm not often caught off guard by the ending, but I was here. I hadn't pieced together the culprit by the finale, and I loved that. I also loved how the reader is treated to a tad bit more of Winnie and Colton's developing relationship, and to more of the special relationship that exists between Winnie and her grandmother, and Winnie and Dot. Plus the latest rescue animal in this one is a hoot, and definitely added another comedic element to an already great story.
Final Rating: 4/5.
I hope Julie Anne Lindsey has many more titles planned for this series as I truly can't wait to read them!
