I pray today finds you all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

I went through a really rough time a few weeks back, and all I found myself wanting to read was Amish fiction. I love how uplifting this genre is, and it seemed exactly what I needed to take my mind off of everything else.

It also seemed the perfect time to read some of the books I had sitting on my own shelf that I'd never gotten to, and today I'm here to share the first of these reviews with you all.

My Review:

I adore Suzanne Woods Fisher's books, and yet I'd never gotten around to reading her Stoney Ridge Seasons series that had been sitting on my bookshelves for quite some time. I decided recently that this needed to change, and I'm honestly so thankful I finally got around to reading the first title (The Keeper). It's truly a beautiful story that showcases the author's wonderful gift of storytelling, and I have a feeling it's going to stick with me for quite some time

The Keeper was a story that drew me in right from the beginning, and I could barely bring myself to put it down. I always enjoy the way this author includes something in every one of her Amish fiction titles that's a little bit different than what's been done before, and this time, the main male character is a bee keeper. I never thought that would be something I'd be that interested in learning about, but I honestly found it intriguing, and enjoyed learning about the bee keeping process as the story progressed.

I also adored the fact that this story is primarily about the eldest Lapp daughter Julia, and the traveling bee man Roman Troyer, but the reader is also treated to chapters from Julia's younger sisters' POV's, and tidbits of information about various other characters including Fern, the Amish woman who has taken the role of housekeeper for the Lapp family while their father is struggling with health complications.

I have to say when I first picked this up, I expected a sweet and simple story, but I was in no way prepared for just how beautiful and heart wrenching this one ended up being. The plot twists in ways I was not prepared for, and left me with both tears in my eyes, and a big smile on my face as I followed along on the Lapp family's journey.

Suzanne Woods Fisher continues to be a favorite author of mine, and I wholeheartedly enjoyed this one. I'm looking forward to reading the other two books in the series in the very near future, as I'm looking forward to seeing what she has in store for the other Lapp daughters.
