I pray today finds you all doing well, and that you all had a wonderful weekend, and that your week is off to a great start.

I'm Kirby, and I'm happy to welcome you today to The Preppy Book Princess, where I love sharing my love of the written word with you all.

Unfortunately for me, the weekend was extremely stressful, and somedays I'm starting to feel like I'm treading water trying to keep my head above ground. I'm thankful that God's got this, but somedays it's extremely hard to wait patiently like we're commanded to do.

I thought I'd try and turn this week around on a positive note, so I've decided that this week I'm going to share five reviews with you all, instead of my usual three. I'll be posting Monday through Friday, and I've got some fabulous titles to tell you all about.

My Review:

I came into this one without having read any of the previous titles in the series, but I've always enjoyed the books I've read by this author in the past, and I wasn't expecting Countdown to be the exception. Even though it is book four in the series, I felt I could still follow along with everything happening, and only ended up feeling like I maybe missed out on a little bit of the backstory from not reading the previous titles.

In typical Lynette Eason fashion, this book is a suspenseful, nail biter that was hard to put down once the story starts. Readers follow flight paramedic Raina Price who's been on the run from her past, and has spent longer than a decade looking over her shoulder. She's scared to trust anyone enough to let them in, when doing so in the past has caused unimaginable terrors. However, she never planned on how insistent US Marshal Vincent Corelli would be at lowering her defenses. She's finally found someone she can trust with her past, but will they be able to solve the mystery before both of their time runs out?

This one grabbed my attention right from the get go, and I found myself on the edge of my seat right throughout. I had guessed at quite a bit of the mystery, but there were still many twists and turns that had me reeling, and I'm once again impressed by the many immersive details this author is able to bring together in her storytelling. I enjoyed Raina and Vince as main characters, and loved how this one is a friends to something more romance. That's definitely one of my favorite romances tropes, and I was impressed by how well it was done here.

The mystery was top notch, the action was non stop, the romance was swoon worthy and heartwarming, but my favorite part of all was the faith element. Raina's life has included horrors most could only imagine, and the reader gets to go right along with her as she has to process where God is amongst all the hurt.

I don't typically share quotes in my reviews, but this one really touched me and I couldn't resist including it:

"If He did that, we wouldn't get to see Him work, would we? What good is faith is you have no opportunity to exercise it?"

All in all, another fantastic story by one of the genre's best, and one I'd highly recommend if you enjoy Christian suspense. However, this one is pretty terrifying and if you don't enjoy the type of stories that keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time, then it's probably one you're going to want to pass on.
