I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by The Preppy Book Princess for another book review.
If you've been reading my blog for awhile, then you'd probably already know that Anne of Green Gables has been one of my favorite books right from childhood. However, until the past year or so, I'd never read much from L.M. Montgomery besides her beloved Anne novels, and I finally decided it was time for that to change.
I've been enjoying working my way through some of her other titles, and I'm here today to share with you all a review from another one of her beloved classic novels.

My Review:
I'm almost embarrassed at just how long it took me to get around to reading Emily of New Moon, especially considering the Anne books are some of my all time favorites. I wasn't quite sure what to expect going into this one, but since it's L.M. Montgomery, I was pretty sure I wouldn't end up being disappointed.
I wholeheartedly ended up enjoying this one, and I loved that while Emily and Anne definitely have their similarities in both personality and circumstance, they are without a doubt, two different characters. I loved how Emily approached life a little more realistically, and not quite as dreamy and wonder eyed as Anne usually did, but she did still have an active imagination that she puts to good use many times throughout the story.
The plot was whimsical and endearing, while still hitting on several hard issues that I wasn't necessarily expecting when I picked it up. The prose was truly beautiful, and I love how this author always manages to have me get completely lost in the book worlds she created.
It was a special treat getting to read another new to me title from one of my favorite authors, and I hope to carry on with the rest of the series in the very near future.
While I would say I still prefer the Anne novels to this one, I still loved it, and thought it was a wonderful story in it's own right.
