I'm really excited for this week's topic because it is "Best Suggested Books You Loved (Books Recommend To You). I absolutely love when friends or family recommend books that I end up loving, and I'm excited to share my five favorites with you all this week.

1) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: These books were recommended to me by a co-worker. She had told me just how amazing they were, and my brothers and I ended up going with her and her daughters to see the movie. After watching the movie, I became completely obsessed with this story, and ran out and bought the books. I finished them over the course of one weekend, and I remember that I had my final university exam during that weekend. I was always the type of student that studied for weeks before an exam, and never looked at my notes the day of, because I'd been told that it can actually do more harm than good. So picture about eighty of us students waiting in the hallway outside the exam room waiting to write this final test. Every one else was surrounded my their notes, and I had my nose buried in The Hunger Games. Our prof walked past to head into the room, and did a double take when he saw me. I'll never forget when he passed me by and literally went "Are you all ready for this one Kirby?" Apparently it must have looked pretty bad what I was doing, but I ended up acing his exam, and it's now a funny story I enjoy telling people about just how devoted I am to this series. I have since read it numerous time, and I continue to recommend it to everyone I know who hasn't read it. So thanks Jen for the awesome recommendation :)

2)  The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan

This is without a doubt my husband's favorite book series. I've listened to him rave about them since he first discovered them a few years ago, but at the time I just wasn't sure if they would be my type of book, since I've never really been too into mythology before. Honestly, I should have just listened to him because I gave them a try for the first time last month, and I completely loved them! I've only read the first two, but I can't wait to read the rest of this series, and move on to the Heroes of Olympus Series. You were right Neil! Thanks for the awesome recommendation.

3) The Mortal Instruments By Cassandra Clare

This series actually made it onto my last Top 5 Wednesday post as well, for Top 5 Books That Were Spoiled For You. This is my best friend's all time favorite series, but once again I just didn't think it would appeal to me. She tried forever to get me to read them, but I just never did. And then one evening, my hubby picked City Of Bones to rent for movie night, and I was completely blown away by the story. I immediately asked to borrow the series from my bestie, and I literally could not read them fast enough, and they have since become one of my favorite series. Note to self: listen to my book bestie when she gives me a recommendation. Thanks Nikki for recommending this amazing series!

4) The Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck

This series my husband ended up ordering from bookoutlet during one of their big sales. It immediately intrigued me, but I had a ton of books in my TBR pile at the time, and kind of forgot about it. A few weeks later, he told me that I really needed to read this series, and I am sooooo glad I did. I know a lot of people have given this series bad reviews, but I completely loved it. I found the world Colleen Houck created within these pages to be so intriguing, and compelling, and I honestly can't wait to read the rest of this series, and start on her new series based on Egyptian mythology. Thanks once again Neil for the amazing recommendation!

                                                 5) Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Lastly, I'm going to talk about the love/hate relationship that I had to begin with for The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer. I am going to go ahead and say that this remains one of my all time favorite series, but it was a rough road to me ever getting to read them in the first place. I was in university when this series came out, and I really knew nothing about it until the movie came out. My first knowledge of Twilight was when my boyfriend at the time, blew me off to go see the movie with a group of his girl friends, without even asking me if I was interested in going to it. That alone wouldn't have been enough to deter me away from the series, but after seeing the movie, said boyfriend decided he wanted to read the books. Now a normal person would have gone to the library, or to a bookstore, or even purchased the eBook, but no that was not the way things happened. Instead, he decided to download them from the same illegal downloading site his sister had got them from. This alone extremely ticked me off because whenever someone does this you're stealing an author's work no matter how you want to justify it. But it would only get worse from there, because without my knowledge, he downloaded them onto my computer instead of his own, and got corrupt files into my computer that screwed up my hard drive. Thank goodness our campus had a computer help center that was free for all attending students, but it took the amazing guy willing to work on my computer, ten days to fix it, and that meant ten days of me having to go to the library everyday to keep up with assignments on their computers, since mine was out of commission. So to put it mildly, Twilight was a bad word around me for awhile, but once I did finally listen to several of my friends who said that honestly I should just go ahead and read it anyways, I ended up falling completely in love with this series, despite all the drama preceding me reading it.

That's my list of the top 5 best suggested books I loved, and I can't wait to hear which five everyone else picked. Thanks for reading everyone!

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
