Top 5 Wednesday: Top Five Books You Were Spoiled For

Happy Wednesday To All My Fellow Readers :)

This Wednesday is special. Why is this Wednesday special you might ask? Well, it's special because I decided to finally take the plunge and post my first top 5 Wednesday post. To anyone who is unfamiliar with Top 5 Wednesday it is a group on www.goodreads.com started by Gingerreadslainey over on YouTube, and is a communal group throughout all social media to post a specific topic every Wednesday of your top five favorites. This week's topic is "Top Five Books You Were Spoiled For." If you're interested in joining the group, or just want to read more about it, here's the link for the group on goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/118368-top-5-Wednesday

Thankfully spoilers aren't something that happen to me too too often. I've gotten pretty good at avoiding them at all costs because there's nothing I hate more when reading than when a book is spoiled for me before I get the chance to find out for myself. And this is one reason I always post SPOILER in capital letters in any review that I write where I include one. Here is my list of the top five books that were spoiled for me ahead of time:

1) The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.

Unfortunately I didn't get into this series until the movie came out. I thought it was something that wouldn't interest me, and so one night my hubby had suggested watching the movie, and of course I ended up loving the whole idea of the series and so read it after watching the movie, and of course I already knew a lot of the plot points because of it.

2) Number Two is Blood Promise by Richelle Mead. (although I should really be including Spirit Bound, and Last Sacrifice as well). I read the first two vampire academy novels borrowed from the library, which were the original hardcover copies. After that, my hubby bought me the new paperback boxed set for Valentine's day last year, and so I switched to reading those instead. At the end of the third book however, the paperback included the first chapter of the Bloodlines series, and since I didn't know anything about the series yet, I had no idea they were connected to Vampire Academy, and as such ended up spoiling huge portions of the Vampire Academy series for myself.

3) The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. This one I ended up spoiling for myself because I went to read a review on it that did not include a spoiler warning in it that not only spoiled this book, but also the sequel. Needless to say, I hate when reviewers do this to others, and I have yet to read the second book because of already knowing huge parts of the plot line.

4) Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. Unfortunately this one I have no one to blame but myself. I had yet to read this one, but loved Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince, and I decided to go ahead and start Tales from Shadowhunter Academy, and unfortunately I spoiled a couple of big parts of this book for myself, but I'm still really looking forward to reading it.

5) Lastly is the Summer Series by Katherine Applegate. I believe I was about twelve when my sister read these for the first time. She really wanted someone to talk to about them, and at the time I thought I had no interest in reading them, so I let her go ahead and tell me which guy Summer picks at the end of the series. Unfortunately, a couple of years later I did decide to still go ahead and read them, and knew going into the series how it was going to end. And once again, I have no one to blame but myself for this particular series being spoiled, as my sister had made sure I had no interest in reading it before telling me how it ends :)

That's it for top 5 books I was spoiled for. What books have been spoiled for you guys? I'd love to read everyone else's picks for this weeks top 5 Wednesday.

Thanks for reading everybody, and I'll be back with another post soon.

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
