Friday Reads: May 20th, 2016

Hello all my fellow readers, and hooray for it finally being the weekend! :)

I'm here today to do another #Friday Reads Post.

#Friday Reads is a weekly meme hosted by The Petite Book Blogger, and I'm really enjoying taking part in it.

Basically what this weekly meme is, is sharing the books you're going to be reading over the weekend, and describing whether or not you're liking them if, if you have already started them.


My weekend reads this time are going to have a couple of repeats from my last Friday Reads post, since I didn't get nearly as much reading done this week as I was planning too, but sometimes that's okay too, as we got a ton of our outside yard work done this week, and it was nice to have that out of the way.

Here's the books I will be reading this weekend:

1) The Rancher's Christmas Proposal by Sherri Shackelford:

I started this book before we left for Vegas in April, and I had planned on finishing it last weekend, but I had a couple of library books that I was on the waiting list for come in, and so I needed to finish them first. I'm actually really enjoying this sweet story about a woman on the run from her father's outlaw connections, and a single dad who's in desperate need of assistance with his rambunctious twins. It reminds me a lot of A Texas Legacy Christmas by Diann Mills, which is one of my all time favorite Christmas books, and hopefully I will have the time to finish the one really soon.

2) A Hearth In Candlewood by Delia Parr:

This one was also on my post last week, and I'm sorry to say that I haven't made much progress on it since then. I usually love historical fiction, and I really usually love inspirational fiction, but so far this one just isn't holding my interest. It focuses on a widowed woman running a boardinghouse, which is staffed by, and visited by a pretty colorful cast of characters, but so far, I'm just not finding it too interesting, and I've only been reading a few chapters a week. I find Emma's character to be a tad obnoxious so far, but I am hoping that my opinion on this book will change once I get further into it.

3) The Island House by Nancy Thayer:

This is the last repeat from last week's post. I'm really loving this book so far, and how it's set in Nantucket, I also really love the characters, especially Jenny. I'm not very far into this one yet, so I don't have too much to say about it, but I do hope to be able to read a large chunk of it this weekend.


4) Everything But The Truth by Mandy Hubbard:

I'd been on the library waiting list for this one for a couple of weeks, and it finally came in on Wednesday. I'm a huge fan overall of the If Only series, with one exception, and this one is definitely cute and adorable, and I'm really enjoying the classic Cinderella story of rich boy falling for poor girl, while he's under the impression that she's someone else. I only have a few chapters left in this particular novel, and I'm sure I will be finishing it later today.

5) What You Always Wanted by Kristin Rae:

This is the other book that I was on the waiting list for at the library, which also came in on Wednesday, and since I haven't started it yet, I'm not too too sure what it's about. However, I really enjoyed Wish You Were Italian, which was Kristin Rae's last novel in the If Only series, and I do know this book is about a drama theatre student, falling for a baseball star, and the clashing personalities that exist between them. I think it sounds like a really cute story, and I hope to get at least started on this book this weekend.

 6) Once A Soldier by Mary Jo Putney:

This is another book that I have not started yet, and also, another book that I really know nothing about. I received an ARC of this book for free at the RT Booklovers convention, and I really loved Mary Jo Putney's sense of humor when I met her, so I'm definitely looking forward to jumping into it, and I really wanted the chance to read it before it's release in July of this year.

7) The First Phone Call From Heaven by Mitch Albom:

This is the last book in my stack of weekend TBR books. I purchased this book from the used bookstore several years back, and it just keeps getting pushed further and further back on the shelf when I buy new books. One of my goals is so start reading the books that have been sitting on my shelf the longest, and I decided this one was a good pick for this weekend. I know this book was really critically acclaimed after it's release, and that it's about a small town whose residents start receiving phone calls from the afterlife, and no one's sure if it's a hoax, or a genuine occurrence spreading throughout their town. I've never read any of Mitch Albom's books before, but I'm looking forward to diving into this one this weekend!
