Happy Black Friday To All My Fellow Readers :)
I hope all my American friends had a great Thanksgiving yesterday, and that everyone's finding lots of great shopping deals today.
I want to start my post today by apologizing for my absence this week. Unfortunately, I had to have a couple of small operations on Wednesday morning, and with the preparations for those, the recovery afterwards, and trying to keep up with all the housework that's accumulated since, blogging kind of had to take a backseat.
As I'm still feeling pretty sore and exhausted, I decided that I would do a book review today as per my regular uploading schedule, but after today, I am going to take an additional week off blogging. This will serve the dual purpose of giving me time to recuperate, but also allowing me to start preparing for Blogmas, as I've got lots of great ideas for posts for it, and I definitely wanted some time to prepare ahead of time.
I look forward to seeing you guys all again on December 1st, and in the meantime, here's my review:

If you didn't have a chance to read my review from the first book in the Halfway Witchy series, you can find it here. I had really surprised myself by completely loving the first book, and I was eagerly anticipating the chance to go ahead and get started on the second.
It was great to be back in Carlie's world, where making waffles and using her powers to protect her hometown and friends and family, reign supreme. Just like in the first book, Carlie's character was quirky, witty and just the perfect amount of sarcastic. All in all, Carlie's life has been going pretty well since her recent quest to stop an age old force in the woods, and she's been pretty content hanging with her boyfriend Wulfic, and her Gran, and keeping the population of Halfway, New York in constant supply of the world's best waffles. However, something sinister is once again brewing in her hometown, and it all seems to link back to a visiting circus that reeks of the supernatural.
Soon vampires are turning up in droves (and they're definitely not Carlie's favorite supernatural creature to deal with), creepy clowns are coming to her workplace for meals each day, and worst of all, bodies are turning up that don't seem to follow the usual vampire killing methods. Carlie just might be in over her head, and it's going to take her family (Gran), and her electric cast of friends like Wulfric, and Brendan the librarian, to solve this mystery that's turning Halfway from a tourist friendly city, to a dark and sinister destination that just might not be safe for anyone, even a powerful, 21 year old waffle loving witch who's determine to use her powers for good rather than evil.
I once again really found myself enjoying Terry Maggert's writing style, and the quirky but lovable cast of characters he's created in his Halfway Witchy series. The mystery element was once again really well written, and I found myself second guessing almost every single character that was introduced throughout the story. I love mystery novels where I haven't put it all together by the reveal, and that was definitely the case here. However, I didn't like this one quite as much as the first, and I think that was largely due to the fact that I found the vampire element to be a lot darker than the mystery element was in the first book, and while still enjoyable, it just wasn't AS good as the first. I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars, and I still really do recommend this series. Carlie has fast become a favorite heroine of mine, and I can't wait to get started on the last book, to see how Terry Maggert is going to wrap up her story. If you're looking for an intriguing adult fantasy series with a mystery and sinister element wrapped right in, than I highly recommend this series, and I look forward to sharing my opinions on the third book with all of you guys shortly. :)
