The Proposal by Becky Wade Review

Hello Everyone :)

Thanks so much for joining me today on the Preppy Book Princess.

I recently finally got to read a novella from one of my all time favorite series, The Porter Family series by Becky Wade.

And today I'd like to share with you all my thoughts and opinions on it.

The Proposal by Becky Wade

Publication Date: December 4th, 2015

Genre: Inspirational Fiction

Synopsis:

A cold night in Texas, a dream of marriage, a happily ever after....

Single mom Amber Richardson spends every holiday season working to give her young son the best Christmas possible and striving to ignore the empty chairs around her table, chairs she wishes her mother and father and extended family occupied.

She'd hoped that this holiday would be fuller and happier than the rest. Her handsome firefighter boyfriend, Will McGrath, has brought immeasurable joy and love into her life. Up until recently, they'd even been talking about a future that included wedding bells. Lately, though, the wedding talk has been nonexistent and Amber can’t help but worry that Will's starting to have second thoughts....

Until a fire station surprise brings very good tidings.

My Review:

The Proposal is a fairly short novella about two of the side character's from Becky's Porter Family series, Amber and Will. Amber is a character that was introduced in the first book, and I'd immediately taken a liking to her, and the way she's trying her best to get her life back on track for both her own sake and the sake of her young son, Jayden. Will came into the stories later on, when Amber meets him and begins dating him, and I'm so thankful that Becky decided to give them a short story of their own, and it definitely did not disappoint.

In the short amount of pages included in this novella, the reader is treated to a first hand view of the elaborate proposal that Will has planned for Amber, and her resulting reaction. It was sweet and adorable, and really demonstrated both how Will and Amber are truly compatible, and also, how they've both relied heavily on their Heavenly Father to get to this point in their lives, and their relationship. I also really enjoyed the way that Becky brought in some back story about why Amber's family situation was the way it was, and how Will was determined to help her move past the past, and embrace the future.

All in all, while this story was short, it was also sweet, heartwarming, and compelling, and I gave it four out of five stars. I've yet to be disappointed in anything that Becky has written, and that was once again the case here. I loved Amber and Will's happy ending, and how many of the beloved characters from the main books make an appearance, and I highly recommend reading this if you've read the rest of the beloved Porter Family series.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your week, and I'll see you all again soon for more bookish content.

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
