I hope you're all doing well, and welcome back to The Preppy Book Princess.
Anyone who knows my reading preferences knows that I love the good ole "famous or royal person falling for the regular person" storyline, and so when I discovered Rachel Hauck's inspirational fiction series, The Royal Wedding series, I was instantly hooked. I'd devoured the first book in the series, which you can read my review of here, and I couldn't wait to go ahead and jump into the second book.
Today I'm here to share with you all what I thought about the second book in this series, and whether or not I thought it was as good as the first one was.

My Review:
Imagine the shock of suddenly discovering you are a true royal princess. For classic car mechanic Regina Beswick, this is just what happens when Tanner Burkhardt, Minister of Culture for Hessenberg, shows up at her auto restoration shop. Regina's never seen herself as the princess type-after all she'd rather be working under the hood of a car than worrying about her hair or makeup, but her life's about to change in ways she never could have expected. See, that fairy tale story that Grandma Alice used to tell her as a child, well it just happens to be a true story, and it's up to Regina to save Hessenberg from becoming a Brighton territory, and ceasing to exist as it's own entity.
That's a lot of pressure to place on someone who's content restoring classic cars, and spending her free time with her few family and friends, and Regina's sure they must have picked the wrong woman for the job. However, with the help of her faith in her Heavenly Father, and the good looking Minister of Culture, she just might find out she's stronger than she ever could have thought. Of course, there's the whole issue of the principal government member trying to steal the throne right from under her, and the fact that she's in way over her head in every way imaginable.
Princess Ever After was a fantastic follow up to Once Upon A Prince. While some of the plot for this one is hinted at in the first novel, I still ended up being surprised with where Rachel Hauck chose to take the story. While I didn't care for Regina as much as I did Susanna from the first book, I still did really enjoy her character, and especially loved how she keeps her faith strong and at the forefront, despite all the incomprehensible life changes she goes through from start to finish. And while it may have taken me a little while to warm up to Regina's character; Tanner's I loved right from the start. The way his character wrestles with not feeling like enough after the mistakes he's made in his past was endearing, and beautiful to read, and I loved him and Regina together right from the start. On top of chemistry and hilarious hi-jinks present between them, there's also many a moment that emphasizes their strong friendship, and just how much they've come to mean to each other throughout their turbulent journey.
I loved the chemistry between the two main characters, the political tension that kept me on the edge of my seat, the brief visits from beloved characters from the first novel, the bits of Alice's journal that are intertwined throughout that add a historical element, and the heavy emphasis on Jesus as the true healer of hurts, and how anything can be possible through Him! Once again, Rachel Hauck has blown me away with her beautiful storytelling and well developed characters, and I can't recommend this one enough. If you're like me and a sucker for those royal type stories, then you definitely need to pick this one up.
