As many of you know, I'm the queen of contemporaries. There's nothing I love more than contemporary novels, and last week I finished an amazing one that I knew I needed to share with all of you guys!

My Review:
The Replacement Crush is the second Lisa Brown Roberts' novel I've read, and I've come to love the way she tells a swoon worthy, hilarious romantic tale while still including lots of serious issues that are often absent from young adult contemporary titles.
Vivian Galdi is a book blogger, slight star trek nerd, and a lover of romantic novels. However, when the picture perfect romance she's envisioned doesn't work out with the guy her heart has fallen for, she decides to go about finding a new crush the logical way. Her hormones have let her down once before, so she's determined to stay to the course of choosing someone who doesn't make her swoon, and so she must avoid the new guy, Dallas or McNerd as she's prone to calling him, at all costs. Vivian will soon discover on her journey that love doesn't usually ever work out the way we want it too, and that by refusing it she just might end up hurting herself and others along the way.
I adored Vivian and Dallas right from the start, and I found myself really invested in the budding relationship developing between the two of them. I also really enjoyed the colorful cast of characters that rounds out The Replacement Crush, and in particular I loved Vivian's brother/sister type relationship with her friend Toff. Jaz, Vivian's best friend, is a hilarious addition; and her antics with her celebrity stalking definitely had me cracking up throughout reading the whole story. However, I'd have to say that my absolute favorite part of this novel was the fact that Lisa Brown Roberts chose to write a book blogger heroine. Vivian was definitely a character I could find myself relating to, and while at first glance it might seem like her quest is rather shallow, circumstances arise throughout the rest of the novel that adds a much more serious element.
All in all, I completely loved this one, and I'm only sad that it took me this long to get around to reading it. An adorable, quirky romance, a plethora of Star Trek references, a colorful supporting cast of characters, and emphasis on double standards and slut shaming all made this one a win win in my eyes. And I'm always a fan of a young adult novels that actually features a positive relationship between the main protagonist and their parents (in this case her mother), since we all know that seems to be a rare occurrence these days.
If you're a contemporary fan, I highly recommend picking this one up, and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. Vivian and Dallas are adorable, and easy to fall for, and Lisa Brown Roberts does a fabulous job of bringing them to life on the page. The Replacement Crush was a delight, and an enjoyment from start to finish!

I loved it! I could have done without the language, but overall I really have no complaints at all with this one, and I can't wait to read more of Lisa's books in the future.
