I recently finished the first book in Candace Calvert's Crisis Team series, and I couldn't wait to review it for you all.

My Review:
I'm so glad that I've discovered Candace Calvert's books as I've really come to appreciate the way she can write a clean, faith based drama with lots of action, heart ache, and real characters that keep you connected to the story right from the the opening pages.
Fletcher is a deputy who's recently transferred to California from his home state of Texas in order to help look after his mother who's fighting cancer. A too close too call incident with a sniper on the freeway connects him with ER nurse Macy Wynn who's learned some hard lessons throughout her life, and is hesitant to let anyone else in.
Anytime you pick up a Candace Calvert novel you can count on the character's facing struggles and trials, and having to come to terms with God's place in their lives before progress can be made, and that's definitely the case in By Your Side. Macy and Fletcher are both struggling with the terrors they've seen in their lives, and are struggling to figure out where is God in all the negativity? Macy is hesitant to trust anyone besides herself, but Fletcher is determine to be there for her, especially with a sniper on the loose who just may stop at nothing to get what he wants.
Once again Candace Calvert has written a beautiful novel about redemption, healing, second chances, and God's healing hand, and I really found myself enjoying this one. While I never really thought that medical dramas were my thing before picking up her books, I really enjoy in her novels just how real the medical setting comes off on the pages, and this one in particular had me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what was going to happen with the sniper situation.
One particular reason that makes Candace's books stand out is that she chooses to write Christian fiction that's not about perfect characters, and this is something I really appreciate when Christian authors are willing to do. I love when Christian books feature plots that don't all come together easily, and Candace Calvert is definitely a mastermind with this.
All in all, this one was a definite winner for me, and I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
