Our area has been experiencing another cold spell the last few days, and while today is supposed to be a wee bit warmer, tomorrow we're supposed to be right back to receiving snow.

I've been very thankful for amazing books to curl up with during all these cold temperatures and times of social distancing, and today I'm here to share my review of a Christian suspense novel that I recently finished, and I think you're all really going to end up enjoying this one.

My Review:

Present Danger is an explosive and exhilarating start to Elizabeth Goddard's Rocky Mountain Courage series, and I could barely bring myself to put this one down once I started it. With twists and turns around every corner, a well developed second chance romance, and a sinister plot that will keep each and every reader guessing, this series is already off to a great start, and truly has something for everyone.

When Jack Tanner and Terra Connors end up being thrown together on an artifact trafficking case that has lead to murder, neither can deny the old feelings that soon begin to develop. However, this case is going to hit a little too close to home for both of them, and it's going to take them both working together to bring down an intricate and complex web of deceit that's been building for quite some time. Can they truly learn to put aside their past history in order to see justice served?

From start to finish, Present Danger was a book that grabbed my attention, and refused to let go. Even a few days later after finishing this one, it's still been on my mind. Elizabeth Goddard has a talent for telling her stories in a way that truly brings them alive to the reader, and I appreciated how she kept me second guessing each and every character, and yet still being completely surprised at how everything turns out in the end when all is revealed. I haven't read too many novels that focus around artifact trafficking, and I really enjoyed this component of the story.

My only complaint with this one overall is that it didn't feel like a first book in the series. I kept feeling like I was missing out on information that had happened in a previous book, so it seemed kind of surprising that this is the first in the series. That definitely didn't too much to damper my overall enjoyment of the story though, as I still ended up loving it, and will very much be looking forward to the release of the next book in the series.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Definitely pick this one up if you're a fan of Christian Suspense, and/or suspense novels that touch on art theft and archaeological artifact trafficking! You won't be disappointed.
