Another Gospel: A Lifelong Christian Seeks Truth in Response to Progressive Christianity by Alisa Childers Review

 Hello Everyone :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by The Preppy Book Princess today for another book review.

Today we're going to be diving into a review of another Christian non fiction title, and I can't say enough amazing things about this particular title.

As a Christian woman who has wanted to dive into reading more non fiction titles this year, I'm honestly kind of saddened by just how many titles aimed at my demographic are basically pure fluff reads. If I want to grow my faith, I need to read hard hitting books that don't sugarcoat the truth, and I was happy to finally find another title that seemed to hit this mark for me.

I hope you'll all keep reading down below for my full review.

Another Gospel: A Lifelong Christian Seeks Truth in Response to Progressive Christianity by Alisa Childers:

Source: Library

Publisher: Tyndale Momentum

Publication Date: October 6th, 2020

Genre: Christian Non Fiction/Christian Living/Apologetics

Synopsis:

A Movement Seeks to Redefine Christianity. Some Think that It Is a Much-Needed Progressive Reformation. Others Believe that It Is an Attack on Historic Christianity.
Alisa Childers never thought she would question her Christian faith. She was raised in a Christian home, where she had seen her mom and dad feed the hungry, clothe the homeless, and love the outcast. She had witnessed God at work and then had dedicated her own life to leading worship, as part of the popular Christian band ZOEgirl. All that was deeply challenged when she met a progressive pastor, who called himself a hopeful agnostic.

Another Gospel? describes the intellectual journey Alisa took over several years as she wrestled with a series of questions that struck at the core of the Christian faith. After everything she had ever believed about God, Jesus, and the Bible had been picked apart, she found herself at the brink of despair . . . until God rescued her, helping her to rebuild her faith, one solid brick at a time.

In a culture of endless questions, you need solid answers. If you or someone you love has encountered the ideas of progressive Christianity and aren't sure how to respond, Alisa's journey will show you how to determine--and rest in--what's unmistakably true.

My Review:

Another Gospel is a book that is desperately needed for the Christian church in the current day we're living in. If you've whatsoever encountered the progressive ideals that are starting to encroach in Christianity, then this is a valuable resource that you definitely need to check out for yourself.

Alisa Childer's tells her story, about how her faith was rocked after a lifetime of thinking her beliefs were secure in everything the Bible had told her. Unfortunately, a study class at her local church would cause her to call everything she thought she knew into question, all at the guidance of a progressive pastor who introduced ideals she'd never encountered before. Instead of giving up and giving in to the ideals that went against everything she'd thought she stood for, Childers dove into finding the truth, and her story will resonate with believers everywhere. Rather than giving into doubt, she found the truth. Not her truth, not yours or my truth, but the truth, and I can't possibly recommend this book enough.

I've grown extremely disheartened with just how many Christians I've seen embracing progressive and new age ideals as of late, and it illustrates just how much we all need to be on the guard from our enemy, who is still asking all of us this many years later, "Did God Really Say?" As scriptures are twisted to fit the narratives of whatever we currently want to believe in, it's more important than ever to know the truth about what being a Christian truly means, especially in a society that seems to think that definition changes on a daily basis.

I'm thankful Alisa Childers took the time to write this thought provoking read, and I'm looking forward to diving into some of the study resources she's listed at the end of the book.

It's easy to get caught up in the mistruths and downright lies if we're not prepared for what we're looking for, and I definitely recommend this one to anyone who has had questions, doubts, or misunderstandings about what God's Word truly means amidst the popular teachings being preaching nowadays.

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often.
