I hope you're all having a great week so far.
Mine's been not off to the greatest start as work's been a tad hectic thanks to a nasty virus that's taken quite a few of our staff members off the grid. Hopefully everyone will be on the mend soon, and things will get back on track.
In the meantime though, I've got a review to share with you guys for a much anticipated read for me.
I've mentioned in a few previous posts on my blog that Waterfall by Lisa T Bergen was one of the books I was most excited to receive for Christmas, and this past week I finally got the chance to sit down and devour it.

My Review:
Waterfall is one of the most enjoyable books I've read so far this year, and I'm almost embarrassed to admit just how fast I made it through this story. I've always been a huge fan of time travel novels, and I'm pretty sure this is the first inspirational fiction time travel novel I've ever read. As such, I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I really found myself falling for this beautifully written story that takes place in medieval Italy.
Gabi and Lia are sisters who've never quite felt the connection to the past that their archaeological parent's have devoted their entire lives to chasing. In fact, they find most of their parent's work boring, stuffy, and a waste of time. One night the two sisters decide to sneak into a tomb that's recently been discovered by their mother, and Gabi finds herself crawling out of the tomb into a fierce battle between knights of opposing kingdoms in fourteenth century Italy. Gabi soon realizes that this is not a dream, and that not only will she have to make the best of things, but she'll also have to try and discover whether or not her sister Lia ended up in the past with her, and if she did, where exactly it is that she ended up. On top of everything else, Gabi soon finds herself falling for the young Lord of the castle she's been welcomed into, Marcello, who's marriage has already been planned to someone else.
This story honestly had me on the edge of my seat right from page one. Gabi was such a strong, courageous protagonist, and I found myself really wanting to root for her, and the way she's determined to stay true to herself, and do whatever it takes to find her sister. Being plopped in the middle of a warring battle between knights from two different familial kingdoms in a different century couldn't have been easy, and yet Gabi never really plays the victim card, and I know I couldn't have handled the situation as well if I'd been in her shoes. Marcello held my interest right from when his character is introduced, and I adored the strong friendship that grows between the two of them, and eventually becomes something more. There were so many swoon worthy moments, and every one left me with a huge smile on my face. Gabi and Marcello are definitely one of my new favorite OTP's, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Lisa T Bergen has in store for both of their character's in the rest of the series.
As this was my first experience with a novel by this author, I really wasn't sure what to expect from it, but I was honestly blown away. I thought her writing style was captivating, and had me glued to the pages from the start right through the finish, and I really enjoyed the way she blended the faith element in so beautifully that it never felt unauthentic. I hope the reader gets to see more of Gabi's faith journey in book two, as I really feel there's so many places Lisa T Bergen could choose to go with it. One of my favorite aspects of a book is always the secondary set of characters, and I'm happy to say I was very pleased with the electric cast that makes up the rest of the characters throughout the story. In particular, I really enjoy Luca's character, and the way he keeps Gabi on her toes, but is also willing to put himself on the line for her more than once throughout the course of her journey.
All in all, Waterfall pretty much had everything I could ever want in a book, and I loved every single word of it. Medieval battles, time travel, swoon worthy romance, a protagonist that's not content to let others win her battles, Italy, a cliffhanger that comes out of nowhere, and an amazing set up for a second book. I can't possibly recommend this book enough, and it's definitely one of my favorite reads of 2018 so far. I will most definitely be continuing on with the next book in the series sooner rather than later.
