I'm Kirby, and this is my bookish world, where I get to share all about the wonderful and not so wonderful books I've been reading as of late.

A little awhile ago, I decided to dive into reading more of L.M. Montgomery's books, as the Anne of Green Gables series has always been a favorite, and yet I hadn't read too much by her outside of those.

This has been such a fun journey, and I'm honestly loving getting to visit more of her beautiful writing.

My Review:

After how much I adored The Story Girl, this one had pretty high expectations to live up to. I can honestly say that I ended up loving this one even more, and it's definitely a new favorite for me by L.M. Montgomery.

While the first title focuses around childhood, hijinks and hilarity, and the many adventures that the King cousins find themselves facing, The Golden Road brings with it more of a bittersweet and sober understanding as to what happens when children start to grow up and life begins to change.

It was heartwarming, heart wrenching, and full of all the magical delight that only this author seems to be able achieve. I never wanted to put it down, and yet at the same time I wanted to take my time as I didn't want to say goodbye to these wonderful characters that have come to feel like old friends.

I'm not one for spoilers, but I do want to say that I would recommend having Kleenex handy before you choose to pick this one up!

Final Rating: 5/5.

I couldn't have enjoyed this more, and I can guarantee this will be a reread for me many times in the years to come.
