Out of the Embers by Amanda Cabot Review

 Hello Everyone :)

How have you all been doing?

Stress seems to be mounting everywhere lately, and sometimes that can get tiring.

One other thing I'm noticing more and more every single day lately is just how much more rampant evil is becoming in our world. I've done quite a few devotions lately that have been talking about the garbage in, garbage out mantra, and I know personally just how important this truly is.

I've always loved Christian and clean fiction, but it didn't always make up the majority of what I was reading, and that has completely changed for me. Very rarely do I now choose to read anything that isn't from one of these categories, and it's helped me to do a much better job of guarding my heart and mind.

As well, guys I can't even begin to tell you how many amazing authors I've had the chance to try for the first time when I stopped wasting my reading time on inappropriate content.

One of those authors was Amanda Cabot. I had the opportunity to read my first book by her a couple of weeks back, and you can find that review here. After absolutely loving it, I knew I needed to find the time to read the first book in the Mesquite Springs series as soon as possible.

Today, I'm excited to share with you all what I ended up thinking about it.

Out of the Embers by Amanda Cabot:

Source: Libby App

Publisher: Revell

Publication Date: March 3rd, 2020

Genre: Christian Fiction/Historical Fiction

Series: Mesquite Springs

Synopsis:

Ten years after her parents were killed, Evelyn Radcliffe is once more homeless. The orphanage that was her refuge and later her workplace has burned to the ground, and only she and a young orphan girl have escaped. Convinced this must be related to her parents' murders, Evelyn flees with the girl to Mesquite Springs in the Texas Hill Country and finds refuge in the home of Wyatt Clark, a talented horse rancher whose plans don't include a family of his own.

At first, Evelyn is a distraction. But when it becomes clear that trouble has followed her to Mesquite Springs, she becomes a full-blown disruption. Can Wyatt keep her safe from the man who wants her dead? And will his own plans become collateral damage?

Suspenseful and sweetly romantic, Out of the Embers is the first in a new series that invites you to the Texas Hill Country in the 1850s, when the West was wild, the men were noble, and the women were strong.

My Review:

I kind of came into this one a little backwards, as I actually ended up reading the second book beforehand. However, with how much I ended up loving that one, I knew I needed to go back and read the first book, and hear the full story of how Wyatt and Evelyn came to be together. After reading this one, I'd now be hard pressed to say which was my favorite, as I adored this one every bit as much as I did the first one, and I can't wait for book three.

Out of the Embers is a beautiful, faith based historical fiction novel that tells the story of one courageous young lady's quest to keep on going; despite everything that life has thrown her way. After the orphanage where she's been employed burns to the ground with only her and one little girl as the lone survivors, Evelyn is determined to do what she can to keep little Polly safe. A chance encounter with a handsome stranger on the road in the middle of a storm introduces Wyatt into their lives, and his hometown, Mesquite Springs. Polly and Evelyn soon find themselves charmed by this beautiful community, and the warm and welcoming Clark family. However, danger seems to still be lurking beneath the surface, and despite Wyatt and Evelyn's growing feelings for each other, their happily ever after may not end up the way they expected.

Told in both Evelyn and Wyatt's perspectives, Out of the Embers was a story that I could barely bring myself to put down. The mystery is well paced. The focus is on the importance of faith, family and friendship. The romance is well developed, and never feels rushed to the reader, and the story never drags or ever grows uninteresting.

I highly enjoyed this one, and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
