Pulp Friction by Julie Anne Lindsey Review

Hello Friends? Have you all had a great October? I'm a little disappointed that ours was a really dry month, as usually rainy days in October are my absolute favorites. I'm really enjoying getting to go for walks though, so the nicer weather has been good for that. This fall I've really found myself wanting to read cozy mysteries, and I've worked through quite a few of them in the last little while. I recently finished the second book in Julie Anne Lindsey's Cider Shop Mystery series, and can't wait to tell you all what I thought about it. You can check out my full review of the first book in the series below: Apple Cider Slaying Pulp Friction by Julie Anne Lindsey: Source: Libby App Publisher: Kensington Books Publication Date: April 28th, 2020 Genre: Cozy Mystery Series: A Cider Shop Mystery Synopsis: Nothing’s sweeter than a fruitful family business, and for Winona Mae Montgomery and her Granny Smythe, that means Smythe Orchards in Blossom Valley, Virginia.

The Diva Spices It Up by Krista Davis Review

Hello Friends :) How has your reading been going lately? I've been reading a ton of cozy mysteries lately, and have found myself flying through them pretty quickly. I miss the days when most cozy mysteries were clean and cozy, and not so full of objectionable content.  However, I have discovered over the last couple of years that two cozy mystery authors in particular are ones that I can count on to deliver well plotted mysteries that are still relatively clean and cozy. Those two authors are Julie Anne Lindsey (and her various pen names), and Krista Davis. Krista Davis has long been one of my favorites, but it had been quite awhile since I'd had the chance to read one of her books. I finally had the opportunity to do so recently, and I knew I couldn't wait to share with all of you what I ended up thinking about it. Behind Love's Wall by Carrie Fancett Pagels Review

Happy Friday Friends :) I pray today finds you well, and that you're all looking forward to the weekend. I feel like this is another week where there have been so many tragedies affecting so many different families, regions, and cultures, and my thoughts and prayers are with each and every one.  I want to thank you all for joining me today for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess, and I'm excited to share another review with you all of an upcoming Christian fiction release. With the scary times we are living in, I think it's more important than ever to read books that focus on faith and Christ, and I'm excited to share with you all the newest title of one of my favorite series from this year. I fell head over heels for the Doors to the Past series from the moment I read the first (to me) title, and I've loved every installment ever since. If you'd like to check out my reviews of some of the previous titles in the series, use the links below: Br

Emptied Vessels by Gina Renee Freitag Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I want to thank you for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. At the start of last year, I had the immense pleasure of reading and reviewing the first book in Gina Renee Freitag's Vessels series. It was her debut novel, and I was completely blown away by what an emotional, powerful, faith filled story it was. Last fall I got to read the second book in the series, and I loved it just as much. To say this series has become a new favorite would be an extreme understatement, and today I can't wait to share with you all my review of the upcoming third book in the series. If you'd like to check out my reviews of the first two books, use the links below: Painted Vessels Fractured Vessels Keep reading below for my full review Emptied Vessels by Gina Renee Freitag: Source: Complimentary Copy Provided by the Author in Exchange for an Honest Review Publication Date: October 26th, 2021 G

Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson Review

Hello Friends :) I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. Can I just say that this review is honestly really hard to share with you all? For many many years, I listed young adult contemporary as my all time favorite genre. However, two things have really changed for me with this. First, I've become a lot pickier about the type of content I'm wanting to read, and honestly, this genre is pretty much packed with things I'd rather not be reading about. Secondly, this genre has really taken a turn for the worse in terms of content in the last few years. Even authors I really used to enjoy no longer seem to appeal to me, which is honestly kind of upsetting and not the trend I was hoping for in the YA publishing world. Back when I was gobbling up young adult contemporaries as fast as I possibly could, Morgan Matson was one of my favorites. However, I didn't love her last book, and w

It's Kind of a Cheesy Love Story by Lauren Morrill Review

Hello Friends :) I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. When I first started getting into book reviewing back in the fall of 2015, I always listed young adult contemporaries as my favorite genre. I loved these sweet romances, and I liked the fact that they were for the most part clean. However, in the last couple of years, I've really noticed a trend that more and more objectionable content is finding its way into these stories, and I would no longer list it as my favorite genre. I had read an article that because more and more adults are turning to young adult fiction, the publishers are starting to include more and more "adult" content to appeal to them. However, I find this really disheartening, as while I can't speak for all adults reading YA, I feel that the reason I chose YA to begin with is because I wanted to try and avoid the "adult" content that is so

Court of Swans by Melanie Dickerson Review

Hello Friends :) I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians! We actually had our dinner yesterday, so today I'm looking forward to deep cleaning my house, catching up on my blog, and curling up with some great reads.  I've been growing more and more disheartened with how the faith element is starting to be almost non existent in quite a few titles being put out by Christian publishers. On top of this, I've started to notice an alarming trend of a lot of these titles starting to feature content that seems more fitting for the secular market than for the Christian one. So when I find an author who continues to make Christ an important part of their stories, I appreciate it even more. I have yet to read a Melanie Dickerson title that doesn't put faith at the front and center, and I appreciate this more and more with each title she rele

The Healing of Natalie Curtis by Jane Kirkpatrick Review

Happy Thursday Friends :) I pray today finds you all well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. I'm personally really looking forward to this weekend. Monday is Thanksgiving here in Canada, and my mom is hosting our family Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. I always enjoy helping her with it, and ever since moving out so many years ago, I always have fun preparing a few different dishes to take with me to her place. This year I've been going through many recipes trying to decide what to make, and I can't wait to get to work in the kitchen in the following days. Before I jump into all that though, I thought it would be fun to share a bonus extra book review with you all this week. Last year, around this same time, I read my first novel by Jane Kirkpatrick (review here ), and it wasn't, unfortunately, a positive experience for me. I was really wanting to try another one of her books, to give them another chance

Sketchy Behavior by Erynn Mangum Review

Hello Everyone, and Happy October! Like Anne Shirley said so beautifully, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."  I've lately been finding myself in the mood for rereading, and as chillier weather is finally supposed to be making its way our way later this week, it's putting me even more in the mood to do so.  I recently reread a title that I never ended up reviewing the first time I read it, so today I'm excited to share my review of this fun title with you all. Keep on reading for my full review. Sketchy Behavior by Erynn Mangum: Source: Libby App Publisher: Zondervan Publication Date: August 9th, 2011 Genre: Christian Fiction/Young Adult Fiction Synopsis: Drawing Conclusions or Drafting Disaster?Other than harboring a somewhat obsessive fondness for Crispix and completely swearing-off boys after a bad date (don’t ask), sixteen-year-old Kate Carter is about as ordinary as they come, except for her two notable talents: art and sarcasm. Guarded by the Hero by Mandi Blake Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray you've all had a great weekend, and that you're all enjoying the start of October. Our area has been going through an extremely abnormal heat wave, and as such, it sadly has not felt like fall yet. This is very weird for us as we're usually well into colder temps by now, but this year it still feels like summer. One thing that definitely helps me look forward to the cooler temps is reading some of the many amazing Christmas books that are being released this year, and today I'm excited to share with you all a review of one of my all time favorite author's upcoming releases. This is the second year she's been participating in a multi author series collection called The Heroes of Freedom Ridge  series, and each title in the series revolves around a character that makes their home in the small fictional town of Freedom Ridge, Colorado. I loved Mandi's last installment in this series, (you can read that review here ), and I loved

The Scent of Cherry Blossoms by Cindy Woodsmall Review

Hello Friends :) Happy First Day of October! I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. In the last couple of months, I've shared my reviews of three of the titles in Cindy Woodsmall's Apple Ridge series.  The Sound of Sleigh Bells The Christmas Singing The Dawn of Christmas Today I'm excited to share my review of the final book in the series, and I'm so sad to be done with this beautiful book series. I'm definitely going to have read more of Cindy Woodsmall's books in the very near future.
