September Wrap Up

Hey Everybody. I had several blog posts planned for the last couple of weeks, but unfortunately I had computer issues. My laptop didn't want to upload any new pictures, and as such, I couldn't get any of my blog posts up. Thank goodness I have a hubby who understands electronics, and was able to fix the issue. So today's post will be my (late) September wrap up.

September was kind of a crazy reading month for me as we took possession of our house on the first of the month, and all the joys of packing, cleaning, unpacking, organizing, etc, etc.....kind of prevented me from getting to a lot of the books in my TBR pile. However, I did read twenty five books in September, and discovered some new favorites. The books will be listed by the rating I gave them on goodreads, from least stars to most. Without further ado, here is my book wrap up for September 2015 :)

September was thankfully a month with no one star books for me. I try to not rate books a one star if at all possible, because I know how much work an author puts into a book, and I feel guilty when doing so. It takes a lot for me to rate a book less than two stars, and thankfully there were no books I felt the need to do so in September.

Two Star Books: Up Over Down Under by Micol Ostow and Noah Harlan: This was the final book in the Students Across the Seven Seas series which is written by different authors, and each one contains the story of a high school girl studying abroad in various countries for one semester. While I have now read them all, and really did enjoy some of them, this one just fell short for me, and I did not care for either of the main characters.

A Catered Fourth of July and A Catered Mother's Day by Isis Crawford: These are both books in the Murder with Recipes series about two sisters who run a bakery and somehow always manage to find themselves involved in murder investigations. While I have previously loved the earlier books in this series, and continue to love the main characters, I found the mystery part of both of these books to be a tad lacking.

The Thawing of Mara by Janet Dailey: This book is part of Janet Dailey's Americana series, a series she wrote in which each book takes place in a different US state. This particular novel takes place in Pennsylvania. I was actually given this whole set of books by a lady who had read them all, and no longer wanted them, and while I definitely take into consideration the fact that they are dated, I've still enjoyed a lot of the ones I've read so far. This one, however, I just couldn't bring myself to like the male character. He was a very dominating type personality, and I didn't like how this was reflected into the romance of the story.

Darling Jenny by Janet Dailey: This is the Wyoming book in the Americana series, and I had similar complaints with the main character here as well. I still highly recommend giving this series a try however, as it's quite interesting how Janet Dailey incorporates state traditions and history in with each book.

Three Star Books:

Hold On Tight by Abbi Glines: I was really excited to read DeWayne's story finally, and I really enjoyed the chemistry between him and Serena, and also how much was added to the depth of the story with Serena's son.

Boys That Bite by Mari Mancusi: This was such a cute vampire book, and I really liked how Mari Mancusi wrote it almost playing fun of the vampire culture, but came out with quite an enjoyable book.

Little Sister by Yvonne Green: One of the Sweet Dreams books from the eighties, and a really cute read.

On Sunset Beach and That Chesapeake Summer by Mariah Stewart: The two newest books in her Chesapeake Diaries series, both were quite cute reads, although I didn't enjoy them quite as much as the earlier ones in the series.

Four Star Books:

Alienated by Melissa Landers: I've been looking forward to reading this book since it first came out, and since it's been sitting on my bookshelf since January, there's really no excuse for why I hadn't got to it before now. I loved this book, and thought it was such a unique take on the alien theme. I really can't wait to read the second.

It's a Prom Thing by Diane Schwemm: This was a book I read for the first time probably fifteen years ago, and decided to give it a reread after I found it when we unpacked my books. It's a cute high school romance and I remember loving it back when I first read it.

Tempest by Julie Cross: I looooved this book! I loved the whole time travel angle, and I can honestly say it's on the best time travel books I've ever read. I can't wait to get to the rest of the trilogy.

Broken Hearts, Fences and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn: It's no secret that I adore Morgan Matson's writing. This was my first experience reading her work under her pen name, and it did not disappoint at all. I really need to buy the next book in this series ASAP!!

From The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg: I read this for the first time for a school project in third grade and I still adore this book.

On Strike for Christmas by Sheila Roberts: I heard about this after watching the lifetime tv movie that was based on it. As cute as the movie was, it doesn't even compare to the book. I highly enjoyed this.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl: This was my first book by these authors, and I loved it. I can't wait to continue on with this series.

Tidal by Emily Snow: A pretty deep New Adult novel. I really enjoyed this one, and am looking forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Right Where I Belong by Krista Mcgee: Such a different spin on a teen romance, and I really enjoyed it.

Five Star Books: Lastly, and finally we come to my favorite books that I read in September 2015

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer: As many times as I've read this book, It remains one of my absolute favorites. We had a freezing cold day one week, so I brewed my favorite tea, curled up with a blanket and read this for the millionth time. Not so sure how I feel about her new gender reversal Twilight, but these books have been such an inspiration to me since their release. Happy ten years Twilight :)

Whatever Life Throws at You by Julie Cross: This was my first book by Julie Cross and definitely will not be my last. She is fabulous and I loved loved loved this story.

Magnolia by Kristi Cook: This was also my first book by Kristi Cook and I loved it so much I read it in one sitting. Can't wait to read more by her.

The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead: The last Bloodlines novel and it ended the series beautifully :)

Chasing Impossible and Nowhere But Here by Katie Mcgarry:Words cannot express how much I love this woman's books. I have yet to be disappointed by her, and if you have not read her yet please just pick up her books. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Thanks so much for reading everyone :) Hopefully it wont be two weeks this time until my next post

For today's post, I'm excited to once again be linking up with the lovely Hoarding Books  for another edition of First Line Friday.
