October 2015 Wrap Up

Hello all my fellow readers :)

It's November 11th, and I want to start this blog post by thanking all the men and women who are currently serving or have served, they are all true heroes, and I'm thankful we have a holiday devoted to all of them.

I hope everyone is having a great week. I am here today with my October 2015 wrap up. October, for me, was not the greatest of reading months. I only managed to finish ten novels and one novella, due to an insane work schedule, and trying to get some home renovation projects done before the snow comes. Speaking of snow, we got a huge helping of it this week. Over ten cm fell on Monday evening. and so far it looks like it is here to stay. I'm not usually the biggest fan of snow, but I have to say that I love curling up with a book in front of our Christmas tree, and seeing all the trees in our yard covered with a perfect white, sparkly snow. It just seems so magical when the trees are frosted like that. As such, I've already read more books in November than I did the whole month of October, and I will hopefully be reviewing some of them soon. But getting back on track, here is my October 2015 wrap up.

I was lucky in the sense that once again this month, I had no one star books. As I said in my September wrap up, I always try to never give a book one star, because I respect that an author puts a lot of work into a book, and I don't feel comfortable being that insulting. However, there has definitely been some books that I did rate as such cause I just could not bring myself to rate them higher than that, but once again this month, this was not the case.

Two Star Books:

There was only one book I rated two stars this month and that was:

Te Amo Means I Love You by Deborah Kent. This is one of the Sweet Dreams novels from the nineteen eighties, and I have read quite a few of these over the years, Some of them I have really enjoyed, and I was looking forward to reading this one, as I knew it was a multicultural kind of story. However, I found myself really not enjoying the way the main character behaved throughout the novel, and that lowered my opinion of it.

Three Star Books:

Escaping Christmas by Lisa Devore: This was a really cute Christmas suspense kind of novel. It wasn't really scary at all, and I found the whole mystery aspect of the story to be a bit lacking, but I did like the two main characters, and I always enjoy the "snowed in" type of Christmas romance novels.

Stake That by Mari Mancusi: This is the second book in the Blood Coven Vampires series, and it made me laugh out loud throughout. I really like the characters she's created in this series, and I enjoy how it's more of a humorous series than most other vampire novels I've read. I'm looking forward to continuing on with this series.

Five Summers by Una LaMarche: I really liked the premise of this novel. Four best friends who spent five summers together at camp, reuniting after some time apart. I enjoyed the story overall, but thought it may have been better written from a different perspective, as having four main characters became confusing to keep track of who was talking, particularly when several of the characters seemed so similar.

Time For Me to Come Home by Dorothy Shackleford: I had heard about this book awhile back, and thought it would be interesting to read it since it was written by Blake Shelton's mother, and is about a country music start finding his way home for Christmas. It was a really sweet read, and was a perfect fit for this time of the year.

Four Star Books:

What We Did Last Summer by Elizabeth Craft: This is one of the Love Stories for Young Adults novels, and I had read it for the first time probably ten or so years ago. It's a really cute story about a girl so set on having her dream guy that she almost misses out on what's right in front of her. I've read quite a few books in this series over the years, and I have honestly loved most of them. They're really cute reads, and I would recommend giving them a try.

Keeping Christmas by Marisa Carroll: This is a Christmas Harlequin that once again, I read for the first time quite a few years ago. It's a really touching story, and has remained one of my favorites throughout the years. I especially like the aunts featured in the story, as they are just hilarious, but are also so sweet and caring that they really made me love the novel.

Fairest by Marissa Meyer: It's perhaps no secret to anyone how much in love I am with The Lunar Chronicles. It's one of my all time favorite series, and the last book in the series, Winter, came out this week. Unfortunately  my hubby has me on a book buying ban until Christmas, so I haven't been able to pick it up, but I definitely will be after Christmas. This is book 3.5 in the series, and it tells the backstory of the evil character. I can honestly say that I have read a lot of novels throughout my lifetime, and Queen Leavana from this series is seriously one of the most twisted characters I've ever read. I really enjoyed reading this novel, and I can't wait to finish the series.

Five Star Books:

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins: I'm not going to say too too much about this one, as I have a full review posted on my blog already, but suffice to say I LOVED this book. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

The Favorite by Kiera Cass: The Selection series is one of my all time favorite series. I know Kiera Cass has taken a lot of flack for continuing on with this series for as long as she has, but in my opinion I love that she has. I still find all the books she's written in this series to be well thought out, and none of them have seemed to me like she's written them strictly to make money. I loved getting to read a firsthand view of Marlee's story in this book, and I can't wait for The Crown to be released later this year. I am a huge fan of Kiera Cass, and I can't wait to see what else she has in store for all her readers in the future.

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch: Once again, I'm not going to say too much about this book as I have a full review for it on my blog, but I also completely loved this book, and I can't wait to read Ice Like Fire.

Thanks everyone for reading. I hope you have a great rest of your week, and I will be back soon with more bookish ramblings.

This is not a sponsored post. All books were either purchased by me, or borrowed from the library. I received no compensation for writing these reviews.
