Collective Fall Book Haul

Hello Everyone :)

I hope you're all having a great week, and living your best life :)

In some ways September and October weren't the greatest months for me. I spent a large portion of it sick with a cold, and then asthma complications, and it seemed to be a pretty stressful month for work as well.

However, there were still many many moments throughout the months that reminded me just how blessed I am, and one of those moments was the weekend getaway my husband and I did to do some shopping. While we were away we visited my favorite Chapters bookstore of all time, and I picked up some new books that I'm very much looking forward to reading, and today I'm here to share them with you all.

One of my first finds was this particular edition of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I'd collected most of her other books in this exact design, but every store was always sold out of Pride and Prejudice, and this included online. We found it this time, and I snagged it immediately. While I adore my leather bound edition, I'm very pleased to now have a matched set of all her books.

We ended up visiting Chapters a couple of times during our weekend away, and one of the times was national buy a book day. On that particular visit, my husband Neil and I each decided to choose a book that we'd never heard of before, and for me that was The Inheritance by Michael Philips. I'm really looking forward to diving into this one.

While I will most definitely admit that I've never been the hugest Harry Potter fan, I've always respected J.K. Rowling for the lengths she went to see her beloved masterpiece published. As well, I can't even begin to describe how much I admire her amazing imagination for coming up with such a complicated, fanatical world that's turned into a literary masterpiece. However, lately I've been craving rereading these books again, and Neil's interested in reading them for the first time. When we stumbled upon these particular Hogwarts house editions in Chapters, we knew we needed to pick these up since we've never owned any of the books before. Since Neil is a Slytherin and I'm a hufflepuff, we bought the first book in the slytherin edition and the second book in the hufflepuff one. I can't wait to see what these are going to look like on our bookshelves.

This was another pick that I'd never heard of before, but if anyone knows me I LOVE The Little Mermaid, and I'm very fascinated to read a fantasy retelling of Ursula's story. I really hope this one lives up to the expectations I've built for it in my mind.

I've also really been wanting to reread the Lara Jeans books recently, especially since I still haven't read book three. I was missing book two, and I decided to pick it up so I can marathon read the whole trilogy.

I didn't actually buy these ones for myself, but a few days after we got back I was having a bad day. I wasn't feeling the greatest, work was a tad stressful, and there was some other drama going on as well. Neil had apparently bought these two for me and was saving them for a special occasion, but instead decided to surprise me with them right then and there. I adore Love Inspired's, and I can't wait to read these two.

A few weeks after we visited Chapters, I ended up visiting my local used bookstore to donate a ton of books I'd decided to unhaul. This particular bookstore uses all the proceeds to go towards the local animal shelter, and as such, I'm very passionate about supporting it.

I had enough books donated that I'd earned quite a bit in store credit, but surprisingly I only ended up picking up a couple of books, as I just didn't see too many that I needed.

While Dreamland isn't my favorite Sarah Dessen novel, it's still one that I enjoyed and didn't own in my collection so I went ahead and picked it up. I then found one of the Embassy Row novels by Ally Carter in perfect condition in hardcover for two dollars and I couldn't resist. Lastly, I found a title by Shelley Shepard Gray that I hadn't read before on the clearance fifty cent rack, and also one by Kristin Billerbeck that I hadn't read before either.

A few days after the used bookstore, I attended our town's annual library book sale, and I was pretty excited going into it. Last year I found so many amazing titles that I walked away with over thirty books, however this year's just wasn't the same experience and all I ended up picking up were two Thoroughbred novels, mainly for nostalgia reasons.

One night my hubby and I were getting groceries at Walmart, and I saw that Christmas Joy was on the 2/15 rack, and I've really been wanting to read this, especially since it's going to be one of this year's Hallmark Christmas movies.

Neil picked it up for me as a thanksgiving treat, and I'm so looking forward to reading it.

And lastly,

I had a gift card for Indigo, and decided to order a couple of Christian fiction books that I've been wanting to read for quite some time, and this is what I ended up picking up:

I've heard great things about both titles, and I really can't wait to dive into both.

And that's all the amazing books I picked up during the months of September and October. Did any of you guys pick anything up on national buy a book day? And do you have a favorite bookstore in a different city that you love visiting?

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day, and I'll see you all again soon.
