Lake Season by Denise Hunter Review

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Can you believe Halloween is tomorrow?

I honestly feel like October went by so fast, it feels like it was just September yesterday. It also doesn't feel like October outside since we're once again blanketed by heavy amounts of snow where I live.

I'm not personally the biggest fan of Halloween, but I do wish the weather had stayed warmer for all the little munchkins to be able to go trick or treating tomorrow night.

My personal plans for Halloween currently include curling up with Jaime Jo Wright's upcoming book release, and possibly taking my nephews trick or treating for a little bit.

Do you guys have any plans for Halloween this year?

For today's post, I'm excited to share with you all a review for Denise Hunter's upcoming book release that's going to be out into the world in less than two weeks!

I'm so excited to share this beautiful story with you all, so let's go ahead and jump right into the review.

Lake Season by Denise Hunter:

Source: Publisher (Thomas Nelson) Via NetGalley

Publisher: Thomas Nelson

Publication Date: November 12th, 2019

Genre: Christian Fiction/Women's Fiction

Series: Bluebell Inn Romance

Synopsis:

From the bestselling author of  The Convenient Groom  and  A December Bride  (now beloved Hallmark Original movies) comes the first novel in a brand-new series!

When their parents die in a tragic accident, Molly Bennett and her siblings pull together to fulfill their parents’ dream: turning their historic home back into an inn.

Adam Bradford (a.k.a. bestselling author Nathanial Grey) is a reclusive author with a bad case of writer’s block. Desperate for inspiration as his deadline approaches, he travels to a North Carolina lake town, the setting of his next novel. There he immediately meets his muse, a young innkeeper who fancies herself in love with his alter ego.

When Molly finds an old letter in the walls of her inn she embarks on a mission with Adam to find the star-crossed lovers and bring them the closure they deserve. But the guest she invites along has secrets of his own. Past and present collide as truths are revealed, and Molly and Adam will have to decide if love is worth trusting.

My Review:

I didn't think I'd ever read a Denise Hunter book that would replace Falling Like Snowflakes as my favorite read by her. However, Lake Season came along and tugged at all my heartstrings, and I can now wholeheartedly proclaim that this is my new favorite. I never wanted this lovely tale to end, and I got a little frustrated when real life got in the way of my enjoyment of it.

This particular title is written a little different than Denise's previous books have been, and I found it a refreshing change. Lake Season introduces the Bennett siblings; a group of three who've recently lost their parent's in a tragic accident. Their parent's dream was to turn their historic family home into an inn, and together they decide to try and make this dream a reality in remembrance of them. This story gives us readers the middle sister, Molly's story, and revolves around the inn's completion, and hosting its first guests. A unique component of the story is that the reader gets two romances in one. The majority of the story is focused on Molly and her budding relationship with a reclusive writer who's also the inn's first guest. However, a letter that is found tucked behind the inn's walls during construction lead Molly and her new friend Adam to a discovery of a long forgotten romance. As the two work together to try and find the couple mentioned in the letter, the story also jumps back into the 1960's showcasing that couple's romance to the reader as well.

This was one of the sweetest romances I've ever personally had the pleasure of reading, and I couldn't stop thinking about it long after finishing it. Molly and Adam's story was charming, but also heart wrenching as both are struggling to overcome insecurities and truly learn that everything comes together for the purpose of His ultimate plan. I loved that Molly was a bookworm, I adored that Adam struggles so heavily with his feelings, and resorts to speaking in Italian when he wants to truly express himself to Molly. The inn setting was idyllic and picturesque, and this book as a whole was everything I was hoping for and more. I hope that this one soon gets optioned by Hallmark as several of Denise's other titles have, as I'd love to see it brought to life on the screen.

I can't recommend this beautiful title enough, and if you've never read a Denise Hunter book before, then this is definitely the perfect one to start with. Denise Hunter has a gift for storytelling that truly brings her stories to life for her readers, and I already can't wait to read the next title in the Bluebell Inn Romance trilogy.

Final Rating: 5/5

I loved every single page, and this is definitely one of my favorite reads of the year so far.

Thanks so Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for the opportunity to advance read this!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher (Thomas Nelson) via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not required to give a positive review.
