Free by E. B. Roshan Review

 Happy Monday Sweet Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you've chosen to start out your week by dropping by The Preppy Book Princess for another book review.

I'm Kirby, and I'm excited to welcome you here to my little (bookish) corner of the internet.

If you're new around here, I'll just quickly say that I've been book blogging since September of 2015, and I love getting to share all about books with you all. I have a lot of fave genres, but every now and then I love to take a chance on a book that's from a genre I don't normally pick up, and that's the case with today's read.

I'm not someone who gravitates towards comics or graphic novels, but I do enjoy E.B. Roshan's sweet middle grade stories, so I was excited for the chance to read and review another when she reached out to me.

Today I'm here to tell you all about it, so without further adieu, let's jump right into my review.

My Review:

Free is another fun middle grade graphic novel by E.B. Roshan that takes readers into space to the distant planet of Mola, to follow the adventures of our main protagonist Rex.

After a horrible accident, Rex finds himself picking fruit instead of being a part of the dangerous missions he used to love in his prior work as a bodyguard. When an unexpected opportunity arises for him to return to his beloved career, it comes with its own set of unexpected issues that Rex is fully ill prepared to handle. As he struggles to find his place amongst his new co workers, he has to wonder if being away from home is truly all its cracked up to be.

As someone who doesn't typically read graphic novels, I always enjoy the fun titles that author E.B. Roshan releases. She has an interesting art style that pulls me in, and definitely puts her own unique spin on everything she pens. I enjoyed this even more than I did her last release, and I definitely felt for everything Rex was going through. I appreciated that while it's definitely a sci fi title appropriate for younger readers, it does dive into some deeper questions that I wasn't initially expecting when I picked it up.

I did find a couple of passages hard to follow as to which speech bubble was which, but that might just be a me issue since I don't normally read graphic novels.

Regardless, this was a fun read, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a family appropriate space themed graphic novel.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to the author for providing me with a complimentary copy to read and review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
