Things We Keep Hidden by Jill Lynn Review

 Good Morning Sweet Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you've taken the time to drop on by The Preppy Book Princess today for another book review.

I'm Kirby, and I always look forward to getting to share my love of books with you all.

Today's review is a fun one for me to get to share, as it's a title from one of my all time favorite authors. I've been a member of Jill Lynn's street team for quite a few years now, and I always look forward to her new book releases.

This one is especially exciting because it's a drastic change from her usual books, and it was a fun treat to see her tackle a different kind of book plot and setting.

I hope you'll all keep on reading down below to find out whether this book lived up to the expectations I had for it or not.

Publication Date: August 26th, 2025

Genre: Christian Fiction/Women's Fiction/Contemporary

Synopsis:

A threatening note.

Long-buried secrets.

Their friendship tested.

The last time lifelong friends Payton, Isley and Clara were together, Clara broke their unwritten rule and brought up the one thing they never talk about. And now, more than twenty years after their friend Cece took her life, they must confront that night as the three women and their husbands—plus one unexpected guest—gather at Isley’s Breckenridge vacation home. With tension already simmering just below the surface of their relationship, they’re each left shaken when a cryptic note Tell the truth or I will.

Who is the message for and what does it refer to? The women fear it could be linked to the truth they’ve kept hidden since the night Cece died…or maybe it has something to do with one of the problems they’ve each brought with them.

Isley’s son is in rehab after narrowly avoiding jail time, spurring her to a reckless act of her own. Clara, usually so careful to follow rules, is haunted by the one night that she didn’t. And Payton has been in denial regarding her husband’s so-called “plan” for their marriage.

As the weekend unfolds, all three will revisit the bonds they share and the challenges that have shaped their lives. And by the trip’s end, a truth that shocks them all will be revealed.

My Review:

Things We Keep Hidden is a dramatic change from Jill Lynn's previous titles, and I ended up absolutely loving this mystery that wove and weaved in ways I never could have seen coming.

The synopsis had me intrigued right from the beginning, as I loved the idea of the story focusing around three adult friends who reunite for a weekend of fun, while trying to keep the fact that their lives are falling apart from one another. As well, past secrets that they thought they'd long ago buried seem determined to emerge this weekend, and these three might just find themselves in places they never could have expected.

A wonderful, dramatic mystery that focuses on friendship, family, and the lengths we'll go to keep our secrets hidden where they belong, Things We Keep Hidden is truly Jill Lynn at her best. This story captivated me right from the opening chapters, and I ended up reading the second half in one sitting.

A wonderful, fictional tale that tackles deep issues sensitively and responsibly, this one ended up being everything I was hoping for, and was a story that stayed with me long after finishing it.

The author did a wonderful job of blending a well, written fast paced mystery together with a dramatic women's fiction storyline that provided healing and growth for three women who desperately so needed it.

I can't personally recommend this one enough, especially if you enjoy clean women's fiction with a touch of mystery, and I will definitely be looking forward to what this author chooses to give her reader's next.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to the author for allowing me to read and review this title!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the author as part of her street team. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
