Top 5 Wednesday: Books That Took You The Longest To Finish

Happy Wednesday to all my fellow readers :)

I'm finally here today getting back into the swing of Top 5 Wednesday posts.
It's been about a month since I last took part in this meme, and I've honestly really been missing them, as I love the opportunity to connect with so many awesome bloggers and booktubers.

Today's topic is: "Books That Took You The Longest to Finish," and there's definitely a few that came to mind as soon as I saw this topic listed, however, before I get started, I simply want to explain about what Top 5 Wednesday is for anyone who's unfamiliar with it.

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme that was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey on Youtube, and is now moderated by Sam from Thoughts On Tomes, also from Youtube. The group communicates through goodreads, and if you're interested in learning more, you should visit the official page at:

Here's my picks for this week :)

1) Imagines: Celebrity Encounters Starring You by Anna Todd and The Wattpad Authors:

I actually received this one as a pre-release title while we were at RT Booklovers in the spring, and I was beyond excited as I'm a huge fan of Wattpad. However, after reading the first story about helping the Kardashian's to save selfies from a government that wants them outlawed, it honestly took me a long time to even want to remotely read anything more in this book. While I did end up enjoying a few of the stories included in this anthology, the majority of them, unfortunately, were just not for me.

2) Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder:

I've talked a lot on my blog about the love/hate relationship that's existed between me and the Poison Study novels right from the start, but I really had high hopes for this one, after reading so many amazing reviews about it. However, I really couldn't get into the writing style of this one, and I found Yelena's character was really getting on my nerves with her behavior, and I found myself dragging on even wanting to finish this one. I am still planning on reading the next book in this series, but I'm not sure after that if I will want to continue reading anything by this author or not.

3) Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin:

I had such high hopes for this book, but I'm almost embarrassed to admit that it took me several weeks to finish this one, and I literally barely even remember anything that happened. I found the overall story to be so boring, and random, and I didn't like the way it jumped all over the place. In fact, I came dangerously close to dnfing on this one, but alas I did not, although I might as well of with how much I actually took out of this book. Sorry to say, but this book was just not for me.

4) Lady of Magick by Sylvia Izzo Hunter:

After I finished (and loved), the first book in this series so much, I couldn't wait to dive back into the amazing magical world that Sylvia Izzo Hunter had created in The Midnight Queen. Unfortunately, I ended up feeling like most of the elements I'd loved so much in the first book, like kick butt characters and page-gripping storytelling, were completely absent from this novel. It didn't even feel like I was reading the same series, and I ended up having to renew this one twice from the library just to finish it.

5) Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare:

Unlike the other four novels I've included this week, this final novel in The Infernal Devices trilogy didn't take me forever to finish because I didn't enjoy it. Instead, it was the exact opposite. I started reading this book a couple of months ago, and I honestly only let myself read a little bit at a time as I really didn't want this amazing trilogy to be over. I finally finished it last night, and I completely loved it, but honestly, I'm really glad I took time my time in finishing it, as now I'm dealing with a major book hangover, and I definitely think I need to continue on with reading Tales From The Shadow Hunter Academy again. :)

Thanks so much for reading guys! I can't wait to read everyone else's blog posts, and I will be back on Friday with another book review.

A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often.
