Top Ten Tuesday: Books You Read Because of Recommendations

It's Tuesday Guys, and I'm changing my blog posting schedule a little bit this week.

As most of you know, I usually take part in Top 5 Wednesday's, but I decided to change things up a bit this week, and take part in The Broke and The Bookish' Top Ten Tuesday meme for the first time ever.

Here's the link to their Top Ten Tuesday page, if you're interested in learning more about it:

This week's topic is "Books You Read Because Of Recommedations," and I think it's going to be a really fun one to participate in for the first time. :)

1) The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich:

I never really thought the Stephanie Plum series would be my kind of read, but for as long as I can remember they've been my best friend's absolute favorite. One night we decided to have a girl's night and watch the movie that's based on the first book in this series that stars Katherine Heigl. Needless to say, my interest was definitely peaked, and I found myself quickly reading through all of the books in this series. While I definitely prefer the older books to the newer ones, these books are always able to make me laugh, and are definitely a quick read when you're looking for something humorous to dive into.

2) The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare:

For some reason I always had it in my head that Cassandra Clare's books would be too creepy for me. I'm not really sure where I got this idea from, but as such, her books were always ones that I would pass over at the bookstore or the library. However, once again, my best friend completely loved these books, and we tend to have similar reading likes and dislikes. One day I just decided to borrow the series from her, and give it an honest chance, and I'm seriously so glad I did, because I ended up completely loving this whole series, and I'm excited to read more about the Shadowhunter world in the future.

3) The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan:

Similar to how I felt about The Mortal Instruments, I just never really felt that Percy Jackson would appeal to me. I had it in my head that since they were middle grade they'd probably be too immature (which is especially funny considering I've loved a lot of other middle grade series), and that being as they were about Greek gods, they'd probably not interest me too much. My husband started reading them though, and completely loved them, and he convinced me to give them a chance. I was actually really blown away by the first two books in this series, and I ended up surprising myself with just how much I enjoyed them. I definitely can't wait to read the rest of this series in the near future.

4) Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins:

I'd personally never heard of this book, or this author, when I saw a booktuber talking about it in a haul video. While she didn't say too much about what is was about, she mentioned time travel and that it was YA, and that was enough to have me hooked. I loved this adorable time travel novel that has a hint of sinister in it when the plot unveils, and I'm so glad I happened to watch the video that mentioned it.

5) I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella:

I happened to be reading a fashion blogger's post about what she was taking with her on her beach vacation, and this novel was included in the post. As I was a big fan of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series, I decided to give this one a try, and I'm honestly so glad I did because this is now by far my favorite book by her, and I don't remember the last time a book had me laughing like that. I highly recommend this one.

6) Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson:

I had this novel recommended me to by so many of my friends, and I'd heard about it a ton from Epic Reads, so I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Unfortunately, I really didn't enjoy this novel at all, which definitely was an unpopular opinion, as everyone else I know that read it absolutely loved it.

7) The Help by Kathryn Stockett:

One of my co-workers wanted me to go with her to see this movie, and I'm not gonna lie, at the time I had no idea what it was about, and also no idea that it was based off of a book. After I ended up enjoying the movie so much, she highly recommended that I read the book, although it did end up taking me a couple of years to get around to doing so. Once I did finally read it though, I was so glad that she'd recommended it, because I completely loved it, and it's definitely a book that I've begun recommending to people as well.

8) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins:

This is by far one of my favorite series of all time, but I actually only ended up picking it up in the first place by recommendation of one of my co workers. She had sung it's praises for as long as I could remember, and since we often have similar reading tastes, and I had an Indigo gift card, I decided to just go ahead and buy the box set, and I was so glad I did. I've honestly lost count of how many times I've read this series over the years, but it's definitely one of the best books anyone's ever recommended to me.

9) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han:

This amazing novel was one that I ended up discovering from watching a Beauty Tuber's "What I got for Christmas" video a few years back. I was instantly intrigued by the cover, and the name itself sounded amazing, so I definitely wanted this book, and ended up receiving the whole trilogy from my hubby. I was instantly hooked, and ended up reading the whole trilogy over a weekend, and it's definitely began a love affair for me with Jenny Han's novels. To this day her books remain some of my all time favorite contemporaries, and I'm already counting down to the release of the new Lara Jean novel.

10) Nil by Lynne Matson:

My last pick for this week's topic, is another one that I actually discovered off of Booktube. They described this book as "The Hunger Games meets the Maze Runner meets Survivor" and it instantly had me intrigued. I was completely blown away by how much I ended up loving this book, and the second one is definitely a high priority in my TBR pile right now.

Thanks so much for reading guys. I had so much fun participating in Top Ten Tuesday for the first time ever.

About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often.
