A Week In My Life: Vacation With My Family July 2016

Hey guys!

It's finally Friday, and I hope you all have had an amazing week.

I was blessed to have had the last couple days off from work, and since the weather was cool (which was definitely a nice change from the horrible humidity we've been having lately), I decided to spend both days doing freezer cooking, and I'm happy to say my freezer is now happily stocked for when we get back from Disney next month!

Speaking of vacation, I promised everyone that I would be posting a vacation post from the week I went away with my family, and since I've finally gotten the photo issues resolved, I'm here to do that post today.

I was lucky enough to get to spend three nights at the Cypress Hills Resort, and then three nights in Calgary to take in a few attractions.

We actually started planning for this trip almost a year ago, as for my nephew's fifth birthday, my mom and I spent months planning a superhero themed birthday bash that included bounce houses, games, and all of the food being themed to various superheroes. After it was all said and done, we came up with the idea of letting his mother handle the party the next year, and we would instead take him on a trip to Calgary since he'd never been to either Calaway Park or the Zoo before.

The idea of a weekend trip to Calgary ended up growing into almost a week long trip, as my family was already scheduled to be in Cypress for the days leading up to Calgary, and I just decided to have my hubby drive my nephew and I out there for a few days, and then we'd leave for Calgary from them there.

Here's some of my favorite highlights from our trip:

Tuesday:

I ended up working the early morning shift on Tuesday, and so after I was off at one, Neil drove my nephew Jaazy and I out to Cypress. Unfortunately, Neil had to head back home that same night, as he had to work the next day, but we enjoyed the few hours out there together that we ended up having.

One of my favorite parts of Cypress is going for walks around the lake, as it's always so beautiful, and we always see lots of wildlife.

On this particular walk, I especially enjoyed seeing the gorgeous flowers and lots of baby ducklings.

Neil then treated me to a beautiful dinner at Ivan's restaurant, and we both enjoyed just getting to relax and look at the beautiful view, while eating a delicious dinner.

After dinner, Neil needed to get back on the road, and it ended up storming for most of the evening, so I ended up just enjoying some downtime at the townhouse with my family for the rest of the evening. My nephew and I have matching One Direction tshirts that I bought us when I went to the concert last year, and he insisted that we both had to wear them this day, and that we needed a picture together while doing so.

This was such an awesome start to our vacation, and it signaled the beginning of a great trip!

Wednesday:

Wednesday was a pretty calm day honestly. We played some mini golf, had lunch at the restaurant there, and then enjoyed a cookout for dinner, and went for a walk to have ice cream.

However, my favorite part of the entire day was the couple of hours that my nephew and I spent together in the early morning.

We went for a walk down to the beach, and it was the most beautiful day weather wise, and it was literally the least crowded I'd ever seen the resort.

Jaazy helped me take a couple of pictures for my instagram to highlight the amazing books I was currently reading on vacation:

And we finished our time together with going swimming at the resort pool, and that's actually the first time I've ever done so in all the years we've been going to Cypress, and it was a really fun way to spend the afternoon.

Thursday:

Thursday ended up being a bit busier than the previous days, as my mom wanted to have all the laundry done up before leaving for Calgary the next day, and so we ended up spending a few hours doing that.

We then once again played mini golf, I treated my family to lunch at Ivan's restaurant, and my stepdad got the opportunity to go on a trail ride, while my mom, nephew and I went for a treat at one of the coffee shops. My brothers were off doing there own thing for most of the day, but we all had once again, a cookout for dinner, and then we ended the evening with spending some time at the marina, where my brothers took Jaazy out in a canoe for awhile.

All in all, we had an amazing few days at Cypress, and I was once again reminded just how much I love vacationing at the resort here. After dinner we also got a fun surprise. I got a text from my brother's ex girlfriend (Jaazy's Mom), and she was going to be meeting up with us on the highway the next morning to join us for a couple of days in Calgary. Jaazy was beyond belief excited, and it was a nice surprise to make his birthday trip even more special.

I didn't realize just how long this post was going to end up being, so I'm going to leave it here for today guys, and I'll post the second half of our vacation on Monday.

Thanks for reading everyone, and I hope you all have a great weekend.
