First Line Friday: Hadley Beckett's Next Dish

Hello Friends :)

I hope you're all doing well, and that you're all looking forward to the weekend.

I'm excited that it's Friday, as that means I'm once again going to be taking part in First Line Friday, a fun, weekly meme hosted by the lovely Hoarding Books

First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently enjoying, and for this week's pick, I'm excited to be sharing a contemporary romance comedy that I finished a few days back.

I specifically chose this one as I love the cover, and May is suggested to feature a book cover that makes you happy or is your favorite color.

Hadley Beckett's Next Dish by Bethany Turner:

About The Book:

Celebrity chef Maxwell Cavanaugh is known for many things: his multiple Michelin stars, his top-rated Culinary Channel show To the Max, and most of all his horrible temper. Hadley Beckett, host of the Culinary Channel's other top-rated show, At Home with Hadley, is beloved for her Southern charm and for making her viewers feel like family.

When Max experiences a very public temper tantrum, he's sent packing to get his life in order. When he returns, career in shambles, his only chance to get back on TV and in the public's good graces is to work alongside Hadley.

As these polar-opposite celeb chefs begin to peel away the layers of public persona and reputation, they will not only discover the key ingredients for getting along, but also learn the secret recipe for unexpected forgiveness . . . and maybe even love. In the meantime, hide the knives.

Fan-favorite Bethany Turner serves up a heaping helping of humor and romance with this thoroughly modern story centered on cooking, enemies, and second chances.

My Thoughts:

I love the unique sense of humor that Bethany Turner always brings to light in her books, and Hadley Beckett's Next Dish was no exception. The story kept me entertained from start to finish, and literally reads like a fun, backstage peak into a favorite food channel show. My only complaint ended up being that I wished it had more faith content woven throughout, but overall I really enjoyed this one and will be recommending it. You can check out my full review here.

First Line:

"That's it for today friends."

What book are you currently reading? I'd love it if you'd share the first line in the comments below, and then hop on over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you have a great rest of your weekend. Happy Friday and Happy Reading!

I've never read Lynn Austin, and I really need to change that soon. Maybe If I were You should be the one I start with.

I really enjoyed Hadley Beckett, but I think I still like Sarah Hollenbeck a little bit more. :)

I thought The Heart of a Hero and Of Literature and Lattes were both really good reads, and I hope you ended up enjoying them as well.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

  4. Happy Friday! My first line is from "Doesn't She Look Natural?" by Angela Hunt:

"A grieving woman, I've decided, is like a creme brulee: she begins in a liquid state, endures a period of searing heat, and eventually develops a scablike crust."
