Hadley Beckett's Next Dish by Bethany Turner Review

Happy Monday Everyone :)

I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

How was your weekend? Mine was honestly pretty good. It was pretty uneventful, but it was also nice just to have some time to read, clean and work in the yard and garden.

If I'm being honest though, I spent a very large portion of the weekend reading Bethany Turner's recent release.

I was sent this one as part of the Revell Reads Blogger program, and I was so excited to read it. I'd absolutely loved the first book I read by Bethany, The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck, (you can check out that review here), and I've been hearing from so many other book reviewers that this new release is her best book to date.

Now that I've finished reading it, I can't wait to tell you all what I thought about it.

Hadley Beckett's Next Dish by Bethany Turner:

Source: Publisher (Revell) as Part of the Revell Reads Blogger Program

Publisher: Revell

Publication Date: May 5th, 2020

Genre: Christian Fiction/Chick Lit/Women's Fiction

Synopsis:

Celebrity chef Maxwell Cavanaugh is known for many things: his multiple Michelin stars, his top-rated Culinary Channel show To the Max, and most of all his horrible temper. Hadley Beckett, host of the Culinary Channel's other top-rated show, At Home with Hadley, is beloved for her Southern charm and for making her viewers feel like family.

When Max experiences a very public temper tantrum, he's sent packing to get his life in order. When he returns, career in shambles, his only chance to get back on TV and in the public's good graces is to work alongside Hadley.

As these polar-opposite celeb chefs begin to peel away the layers of public persona and reputation, they will not only discover the key ingredients for getting along, but also learn the secret recipe for unexpected forgiveness . . . and maybe even love. In the meantime, hide the knives.

Fan-favorite Bethany Turner serves up a heaping helping of humor and romance with this thoroughly modern story centered on cooking, enemies, and second chances.

My Review:

Bethany Turner is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors within the Christian romantic comedy genre, and I honestly adored her newest release that reads like a behind the scenes peak into the food network.

I'm definitely not a foodie, but I've always loved books that have this type of setting, and Bethany truly hit the nail on the head with this hilarious, but witty take on the classic enemies to more type of love story. Hadley and Max definitely get off on the wrong foot when they first meet in an Iron Chef type competition, and while sparks are definitely flying, they're certainly not of the romantic variety. When a chance emerges a few months later for them to be the spotlight focus of a highly prestigious TV show, they're forced to once again work together. What starts out as a stressful, what could the network possibly be thinking type of situation, soon turns into the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Could a romance truly ever work between two people who appear to have nothing in common? Hadley and Max are about to discover that life rarely goes in the exact direction that you've planned.

With hilarious antics, swoon worthy romantic moments, mouth watering food descriptions, and dozens of pop culture references thrown in for good measure, Hadley Beckett's Next Dish is a heartfelt, keep you glued to the pages read from start to finish. Even the tougher subjects tackled throughout are handled with grace and understanding, and showcase the incredible depths of this author's talent. I loved the humor that exists right from the start with this one, and I thought it was downright hilarious that Hadley lists kitchen tools in alphabetical order in her mind whenever she gets angry about something. Add in the chapters named after cooking terms, the emphasis on the idea that no one is ever perfect, and a truly adorable ending that had me grinning from ear to ear, I can't possibly recommend this one enough.

Personally, I think that The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck remains my favorite book by Bethany Turner as I loved how strong the faith element was within that one, and I found that slightly lacking in this one.

However, overall, this was a fantastic, clean romance read that kept me drawn into the story from start to finish, and it definitely lived up to all the expectations I had for it!

Final Rating: 4/5.

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters I'd name a child/cat/dog/car/ etc After.

Happy Tuesday guys! I enjoyed Top Ten Tuesday so much last week, that I decided to go ahead and take part again this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish, and here's the link to the main page if you're interested in becoming a part of it: http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html Today's topic is: Ten Characters I'd Name A Child/Cat/Dog/Car/ etc After, and I think it's going to be a really fun one. First, Characters I'd Name a Pet after: 1) Katsa from Kristin Cashore's Graceling: I have to start with Katsa, since it is actually what we named our adorable black and white kitten almost a year ago. She's grown so much since this picture, but this was taken right after we decided on her name. We tried several different book characters, but Katsa is the one she loved right away, and so is what we ended up going with. 2) Rose from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academ...
