First Line Friday: An Appalachian Summer

Happy Friday Friends :) I'm honestly kind of surprised that it's already the end of July. I feel compared to the last few months that this one ended up going by extremely fast. However, that may partly be due to the fact that I read so many amazing reads during this month, and also may be due to the fact that I was able to go to the lake with my family for a few days a little while back. Today, I'm once again excited to be linking up with Hoarding Books for another edition of First Line Friday. For many years, Ann H Gabhart is an author that I've been wanting to try, but had never gotten around to doing so. When I got the opportunity to be a part of the Revell Reads Blog Tour for her newest book, I couldn't wait to see what I've been missing out on all these years.  After finishing it a few days ago, I knew I wanted to feature it for this week's First Line Friday. An Appalachian Summer by Ann H. Gabhart: About the Book: I n 1933, most people are focused on

Scripture of the Week: Nahum 1:7

Happy Thursday Friends :) How has your summer been going? I know it's definitely been different for all of us this year, but I'm trying to focus on the positive side of it instead of all the negatives. Usually summer is such a busy time at work that I barely have any time to do anything fun or spend anytime with family or friends. This year for the first time in years I've actually been able to join my family for our annual lake vacation, and start revamping our yard for the first time since we bought our house back in 2015. When tragedy strikes, it's easy to fall into depression or to focus on the bad things, but always remember there's a light at the end of every dark tunnel, and He's always right there walking it with us. Today's verse will hopefully help serve as a reminder to us all that He will forever be our refuge and He will never leave us or abandon us. "The Lord is good. When trouble comes he is a strong refuge. And he knows everyone who trus

Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason Review

Hello Friends :) I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess. Near the end of 2019, I had read my very first Lynette Eason novel, the first book in her Danger Never Sleeps series. You can find that review here.   Ever since finishing that one, I've been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to get to read the second book in this series, and a few days ago I finally got the chance to do so. Today I'm here to share with all of you what I ended up thinking about it. Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason: Source: Publisher via NetGalley Publisher: Revell Publication Date: August 4th, 2020 Genre: Christian Fiction/Christian Suspense Series: Danger Never Sleeps Synopsis: Sarah Denning is a military journalist with the Army in the Middle East when her convoy is attacked and she's taken hostage. Love and a Little White Lie Review

Happy Monday Bookish Friends :) Did y'all have a good weekend? Mine ended up actually being pretty good, despite getting off to a rockier start. I was able to spend more time with my Bible, and I managed to finish a few really great books as well. I've actually been pleasantly surprised by just how many amazing books I've read so far this month, and I always love those kind of reading months. For today's post, I thought it would be fun to share my review with you all of one of these amazing reads I finished in the last few days. This particular title was especially fun to review, as it was another book by this author that was actually one of my very first NetGalley reads back in 2016, and you can check out that review here . Love and a Little White Lie by Tammy L. Gray: Source: Publisher via NetGalley Publisher: Bethany House Publication Date: August 4th, 2020 Genre: Christian Fiction/Contemporary Romance Synopsis: After hitting rock bottom, January decides she has noth

An Appalachian Summer by Ann H Gabhart Review

Hello Friends :) Can you believe it's already almost August? I feel personally like the month of July went by so fast, maybe partly due to the fact that I was able to get away to the lake with my family for a few days. I've also been reading some pretty amazing books within the last couple of weeks, and that may be another reason why this month seems to be speeding on by. For today's post, I'm looking forward to sharing my review of one of those books with you, and this one is especially exciting as it's my first time reading a book by this particular author. An Appalachian Summer by Ann H Gabhart: Source: Compliementary Copy Provided by the Publisher as Part of the Revell Reads Blogger Program Publisher: Revell Publication Date: June 30th, 2020 Genre: Historical Fiction/Christian Fiction Synopsis: When Piper gets the opportunity to volunteer as a horseback Frontier Nursing courier in the Appalachian Mountains for the summer, she jumps at the chance to be something

Happy Friday Friends :) There's so many reasons I'm excited that it's once again Friday. I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. Scripture of the Week: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Happy Thursday Friends :) I hope you're all having a great week, and that the Lord is doing amazing things in your life and your faith. I ended up taking a few days off from blogging and social media and the like to spend a few days at the lake with my family. We started visiting this particular lake resort almost twenty years ago, and those few days of the summer were some that we all ended up looking forward to each and every year. Unfortunately, because of my schedule being kind of crazy the last few summers, I hadn't actually been able to go with my family since 2016! I was so thankful it worked out for me to go this year, and I decided to try and enjoy every moment of time spent with family, and so I ended up not doing my usual Monday and Wednesday posts. Everything will be back to normal now though, and today I'm here with this week's edition of Scripture of the Week.  I'm so thankful that I took the leap to start this weekly scripture share, and I hope it'

First Line Friday: Dancing With Fireflies

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're all looking forward to the weekend. For today's post, I'm once again excited to be linking up with Hoarding Books for another edition of First Line Friday. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading.  During all these days of social distancing, I've been reading through a lot of the books that had been sitting on my bookshelves for far too long. One of these books ended up being the first title in Denise Hunter's Chapel Springs series, and since I enjoyed it so much, I ended up going ahead and purchasing the second book in the series. My first line today comes from the second book, which I recently finished. Dancing With Fireflies by Denise Hunter: About the Book: Jade returns home to Chapel Springs after years of protecting her fragile heart. Then along comes Daniel, making her long to dance again. Creative and complicated, J

Scripture of the Week: Matthew 5:14-16

Good Morning Everyone :) I'm beyond excited to be coming to you all today with a new feature on my blog. The last few weeks I've been feeling really down from all of the craziness that exists in the world, and constantly feeling like I'm not doing enough to spread the word about God's love and gift of redemption through our Lord Jesus Christ. I spent a lot of time in prayer about this, and I was lead to the idea of starting a fourth post on my blog each week, a post where I'll be sharing a scripture that has encouraged me through my week and that will hopefully do the same to you. I'm going to be posting these each and every Thursday, and I hope by doing so that it will help someone else find the motivation they need in His word. I happened to be on The Light Blonde   the other day looking at new t-shirts in their store, and I ended up reading about the story of how their business first got started. I loved how the lovely lady behind the business was inspired by

Mine seems to be speeding by as I've had lots of things to get done, and I've got many things still happening through the rest of the week. A Dazzle of Diamonds by Liz Johnson Review

Happy Monday Everyone :) How was your weekend? Mine was pretty nice actually, as I was able to get some yard work, cleaning and reading done, and then yesterday we ended up spending the afternoon at one of the provincial parks in our area. Right before the weekend, I had the opportunity to read Liz Johnson's upcoming release, which I'd really been looking forward to. I hadn't loved the first two books in her Georgia Coast Romance series as much as I loved the books in her Prince Edward Island Dreams series, but I was still looking very much forward to diving into the third installment. A Dazzle of Diamonds by Liz Johnson: Source: Publisher via NetGalley Publisher: Revell Publication Date: August 4th, 2020 Genre: Christian Fiction/Contemporary Romance Series: Georgia Coast Romance Synopsis: Best friends Penelope and Tucker have faced their share of challenges. The last few days we've been having some pretty crazy weather with insane amounts of rain and high winds, but it's supposed to be nice this weekend hopefully. For today's post, I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for another edition of First Line Friday. First Line Friday is a weekly blog meme that simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading. The Solid Grounds Coffee Company by Carla Laureano: About the Book: Analyn Sanchez can handle the long hours and arrogant clients that come with her job as a crisis management associate at Denver's largest publicity firm.
