Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake Review

Happy Monday Friends :)

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

I'm especially excited to share today's review with you all, as guys, Mandi Blake has a new book coming out in a couple of weeks!

I'm beyond blessed to have met her through the book community, and to get to call her a friend. She writes such beautiful Christian romances that always tug at the heartstrings and leave me wanting more and more of her lovely writing.

I can't wait to share with all of what I thought about the first book in her new series!

Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake:

Source: Complimentary Copy Provided by the Author

Publication Date:

Genre: Christian Fiction/Christian Romance

Series: Blackwater Ranch

Synopsis:

They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is.

Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything.

Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille crashes back into his life. When a call at the fire station sends him to save his old best friend’s life, he thinks he might get a second chance until her influential stepdad gives a reminder that his old threats still stand.

When Camille runs into Noah in town, she knows he’s important to her, but her memories are still fuzzy.

Noah is hesitant to get close to her when it means having to sacrifice everything to be with her.

She thinks it’s a new beginning, but he knows it shouldn’t have ever ended.

When the threats are carried out, who will be left hurting at Blackwater Ranch?

Remembering the Cowboy is the first book in the Christian Blackwater Ranch series.

My Review:

Mandi Blake has quickly become one of my all time favorite authors, and I couldn't wait to see how she was going to tackle a cowboy romance. After finishing it, I can definitely say that anyone who chooses to pick this one up is going to be in for a sweet treat, and is going to be on the edge of their seat waiting for the next installment in the series.

I appreciate the fact that anytime I pick up a story by this talented lady that I can guarantee the characters are going to feel like old friends in no time at all. Camille and Noah are both characters I came to truly care about, and I found myself completely invested in their roller coaster romance that had to overcome its fair share of obstacles. Camille and Noah both show such maturity in all the events that unfold, and it was refreshing to see a couple that both acknowledged the mistakes they've made, instead of constantly playing the blame game. Often in romance novels, the timeline of a relationship doesn't seem believable, and I appreciated that this wasn't the case in Remembering the Cowboy. The romance was refreshing and authentic, and Noah and Camille's relationship never seemed to be rushed or unbelievable, even when taking her memory loss into account.

The faith content is at the front and center of this entire story, and the messages of forgiveness, redemption, and healing all focus around it. Camille and Noah know the importance of following His plan no matter which way it leads, and neither ever shy away from this no matter the outcome. Remembering the Cowboy is chocked full of secondary characters that I also found myself enjoying, and in particular, I loved Jenny, Lucas, Bonnie and Anita, and I'm looking forward to reading more about them in books to come. I also have to mention how much I loved the setting of Blackwater Ranch, and with how richly and picturesquely it's described throughout the story, it kind of felt like a character in its own right.

If you've never read a Mandi Blake book before, then you need to rectify that immediately, and Remembering the Cowboy is the perfect choice to start with. Considering that four other Harding brothers and one cousin are introduced in this one, I have a feeling there's going to be a lot more releases in this series, and you are definitely not going to want to miss out on them. I absolutely adored this beautifully written, clean romance, and I will be anxiously awaiting book two in the Blackwater Ranch series.

Final Rating: 5/5.

I can't possibly recommend this one enough, especially if you're a fan of clean, heartwarming romances that stress the importance of keeping the faith and following His ultimate plan, even when it seems next to impossible to do so.

Thanks so much to Mandi Blake for allowing me to advance read this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)
