Current Devotional Routine

 Happy Friday Friends :)

I pray you're all doing well, and I want to thank you for joining me (Kirby) here on The Preppy Book Princess.

I had a different idea for a post today, and I'm excited to share it all with you.

I've found that the last year and a half has been really trying, and I've realized even more than ever just how much I need to spend time with Jesus.

I'm sure many of you are currently going through the same, and so today I thought I'd love to share with you all the amazing devotional books I'm currently using daily, as I'm sure they could help many of you the same way they have me.

The Confident Woman Devotional by Joyce Meyer:

I've done a few of Joyce Meyer's devotionals previously, and always have enjoyed them. My mom gifted me this one at Christmas, and I'm finding it such an encouragement for my walk of faith. I've never really been someone who's extremely confident, and I love how this entire devotional focuses around finding our confidence in God, and taking the step of faith to accomplish what He has prepared for us.

By Still Waters: 365 Devotions to Quiet and Refresh Your Soul by Anita Higman and Marian Leslie:

My mom and I both received this one for Christmas, and we're both loving it. Each day's devotion gives you something to think about in terms of living the Christian life, and I love how each day includes a scripture and a short prayer to pray over it. I highly recommend this one, and with how amazing it is, I honestly can't believe that I don't hear more people talking about it.

The Year of Living Happy: Finding Contentment and Connection in a Crazy World by Alli Worthington:

I also received this one for Christmas (lol apparently it was the Christmas of devotional books for me!), and it's really been such a help for me in changing the way I think about life. Alli talks a lot about how we often want to wait until we get what we want to find happiness, but we miss out on so much along the way by doing so. Each day also includes a journaling section and often a recommended activity (like reaching out to your close friends to tell them how much you appreciate them), and I love how beautifully put together this entire one is. It's also incredibly grounded in scripture, which in my opinion, is exactly how a book on finding happiness should be.

When My Mind Winds Up: A Pull No Punches Approach to Anxiety by Jennifer Ervig:

I was contacted by the author of this one last month about reading it for review, and I'm so glad I decided to give it a try. As someone who has suffered with anxiety for years and years, I've never had a book so blatantly expose the lies associated with anxiety, and give true encouragement for learning how to not let it control you. Jennifer Ervig knows the scriptures inside and out, and I think the entire world could benefit from reading this book. There seems to be a trend nowadays to make anxiety something we're proud of, and while it's definitely not something to be ashamed of, it's also not something we should be bragging about on social media. Jennifer tackles the truth about anxiety, and leaves every reader feeling hopeful with a new understanding of this mental disease. I still have quite a bit to read in this one, and I'm looking forward to sharing my full review of it with you all when I finish with it.

Other than these four, I am still using my favorite app (Youversion!) on a daily basis, using my Christian planner to do weekly and monthly Bible studies, and trying to pick a different book of the Bible to do an in depth study of day by day, and right now I'm working my way through Hosea.

I'd love to hear if any of you have tried these devotionals, and also if you currently are working your way through any great devotionals that you'd love to recommend to me.

I'll be praying you all have a great weekend, and I look forward to sharing some new book reviews with you all next week.

Thanks for reading everyone! God Bless :)

  1. I might try a couple of the books you listed - I haven't read any of them. Although not devotionals, I think you might like "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer and "Live Fearless" by Sadie Robertson.

    1. I'd highly recommend any of these! They've been all such great resources. I loved Battlefield of the Mind when I read it a few months ago, and while I've read Live Original by Sadie Robertson, I've never read Live Fearless, so I will definitely check that out. Thanks for the great recommendations :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest
