Here To Stay by Melissa Tagg Review

Good morning guys!

Thanks for joining me today on The Preppy Book Princess.

As you can tell from the title, today I'm going to be reviewing another Melissa Tagg book. I probably don't even need to do much of an intro as to how much I love this amazing woman's books, as I feel it's literally all I've talked about on my blog lately, so let's go ahead and jump straight into the review.

Synopsis

Witty and Heartwarming Contemporary Romance by an Up-and-Coming Author

Blake Hunziker has played nomad for five years and landed in his fair share of trouble too. But now he's finally returning to his hometown--the Lake Michigan tourist town of Whisper Shore. Counting on a not-so-warm welcome, he's surprised at not only a positive reception but also a job offer. Determined to settle down and prove himself responsible, he agrees to the catch that comes with the job offer--coordinating the annual Christmas festival--even though he has no idea how he'll pull it off.

Autumn Kingsley, inn owner and experienced organizer of the Christmas festival, has always dreamed of traveling the world. Now she has a job opportunity in Paris and a surprise potential investor coming to town who just might take on her family's inn and finally leave her free to go. The only problem is that she has just two weeks to whip the inn into shape.

Their families have a long history of not getting along, but when Blake comes to Autumn for help with the festival, she actually agrees...in exchange for his help with the repairs to her inn. They may have struck a simple deal, but complications are quick to pile on when the guy who's had enough of running away and the woman who can't wait to leave join forces.

My Review:

After recently finishing, and loving, Made To Last, I was beyond belief excited to jump right into this one. Especially after finding out it was Blake's story, who was one of my favorite characters in Made To Last. I'm beginning to realize that Melissa Tagg couldn't write a bad book if she tried, as every one I read just keeps getting and better, and I'm happy to say that Here To Stay was everything I was hoping for and more.

Autumn Kingsley has never been able to follow the dream she set for herself. All she'd ever wanted was the chance to travel, and she's dreamed of working abroad for as long as she can remember. Unfortunately for her, she's been "gifted" her father's family's historic inn complete with all its problems, and she's struggling to keep it from falling into financial despair at the exact moment that the job opportunity she's been waiting for finally comes within her reach. Blake Hunziker is finally returning to his hometown of Whisper Shore; something he's been avoiding for quite some time. Surpisingly, he's met with open arms from both his parent's, and he's soon roped into taking a job with city council to help make the town's Christmas festival the success they desperately need it to be. One of his friend's recommends asking Autumn for help with the festival, as she's got exerperience with it under her belt. The only problem-Hunziker's and Kingsley's definitely don't mix, especially after the disastrous aftermath of the relationship between Autumn's older sister Ava, and Blake's deceased older brother Ryan. However, God sometimes works in mysterious ways, and these two are about to discover that our lives seldom work out the way we plan for them too.

Autumn was a character I loved right from the start. Even though the inn wasn't what she'd ever wanted for herself, she still gives making a success of it her all in order to continue providing job security for the inn's employees. She also insists on giving of her time to the many who need it, and is even willing to be there for the Hunziker family in their time of need. Likewise, Blake was just as amazing in this installment as he was in Made To Last, and I was so happy to finally get more of his back story, after it's hinted at in the previous novel. Together these two were quirky, adorable, and swoon worthy, and I loved reading every moment of their developing relationship. I appreciate the way Melissa Tagg is able to write such fun, contemporary novels that focus on the importance of faith, and are filled with many moments of hilarity, and yet she never downplays the importance of the serious moments, and you end up getting a lot meatier story than you may have first expected when you picked the book up.

Here To Stay is characterized by beautiful writing, funny moments, well developed lead characters with amazing chemistry, and a picture perfect small town setting that's vividly described to the reader, and all pulls together for an amazing story.

Once again, this Melissa Tagg novel gets a perfect five star rating from me, and I'm so glad that I still have several more of her novels to devour in the upcoming weeks. After finishing this one, I immediately wanted to reread it, and that's the sign of an amazing novel in my eyes!

Final Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
