The Chocolate Book Tag

Happy Wednesday Guys :)

I hope you're all having a fabulous week, and I'm excited and thankful you're joining me today on the Preppy Book Princess.

All in all, this has been a really long week and a half or so for me. I've taken on several new work duties, and I've been putting in some loooong hours trying to get everything accomplished.

However, I definitely love the opportunity to learn new skills, and contribute more in my work environment, and it's just going to be a bit of balancing act figuring out how to make everything fit and work together in my schedule.

So with all this going on, Neil and I decided a day away was a much needed respite, and so we're on our way to the city to do some Christmas shopping, spend some quality time together, and enjoy a delicious dinner.

However, I definitely didn't forget about my blog, and I thought today would be the perfect day to share with you all the Chocolate Book Tag, which was created by A Daydreamer's Ramblings on Youtube, and you can watch her original video here.

This look's like such a fun tag, and I'm so excited to have discovered it this past weekend. :)

Dark Chocolate -- A book that covers a dark topic (abuse, domestic violence, rape, loneliness, bullying, death, etc):

The Merciful Scar by Rebecca St. James and Nancy N. Rue

I grew up listening to Rebecca St. James' music, and I was quite surprised to have discovered a novel co-written by her a couple of years ago. I was definitely unprepared for just how deep of a novel this was going to be, and I'm so glad I took the time to read it. The Merciful Scar covers the topic of cutting, and that's personally a disease that I was never that familiar with, and definitely came nowhere near understanding it. However, after reading this heart wrenching, deep digging novel, I can honestly say that I've definitely been more enlightened into this disease, and to the many individuals who are struggling within it's walls. I loved this book, and I highly recommend it.

White Chocolate -- Your favourite light-hearted/humourous read:

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West:

While this adorable contemporary by Kasie West has its serious moments of course, the majority of the book is sweet, sugary, light hearted YA at its best, and highlights the amazing writing abilities of the fabulous Kasie West. She remains one of my all time favorite authors, and is literally one of my queens of contemporary.

Milk Chocolate -- A book that has a lot of hype that you're dying to read:

Without a doubt, The lady and the Lionheart by Joanne Bischof

I've been hearing nothing but amazing things about this book, and I know it won an RT Book Reviews award in the inspirational category. My husband has requested I don't buy anymore books before Christmas, but I'm really tempted to pick this one up.

Chocolate with a caramel center -- Name a book that made you feel all gooey in the middle while you were reading it:

Undeniably Yours by Becky Wade

I love love love love love Meg and Bo's story, and Becky Wade's beautiful writing style. And no one should be the slightest big surprised that I had to include a book by Becky Wade in this fabulous tag :)

Wafer-free Kit-Kat -- Name a book that surprised you lately:

Cinderella's Dress by Shonna Slayton

This Cinderella retelling was unlike any I'd read before, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it.
Snickers -- A book that you are going nuts about:

Would anyone truly be surprised if I chose Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins for this one?

BEST.BOOK.EVER. Need I really say more? :)
Hot Chocolate with cream and marshmallows -- What book would you turn to for a comfort read?

I'd normally turn to any of Debbie Macomber's Christmas novels for a comfort read, especially if it's cooler weather outside, like it is now.

Box of chocolates -- What series have you read that you feel has a wide variety and a little something for everyone?

Probably not a typical answer, but I'm going to go with the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter

I love how this series has the typical contemporary element blended in with the spy stuff, and the mystery element. As well, it's hilariously funny, the romances are adorable, the friendships are true and stand the test of time, and it really could appeal to adults, teenagers, or younger children. In fact, I've purchased the first book in the series as part of my eleven year old niece's Christmas present.

Thanks so much for reading today guys! This has definitely been one of my favorite tags to date!

I hope you're all having a great week, and I'll catch you all again on Friday for more bookish fun. :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

First Line Friday: Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake

Happy Friday Friends :) There's so many reasons I'm excited that it's once again Friday. I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything. Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
