October 2017 Wrap Up!

Happy start to another week everyone :)

I hope you all had a great weekend.

Mine was a little uneventful as we got soooo much snow over the course of it that, other than for work, I actually didn't leave my house. And in the process of doing so, I had a really nice relaxing weekend at home with my hubby getting housework done, catching up on my TBR pile, and streaming many episodes of Riverdale on Netflix.

Since we're almost a week into November, I thought today would be a good day to share my October 2017 wrap up post with you guys.

I've mentioned in the past on my blog how I'd stopped doing these because they ended up being so long that it took me forever to type it all up, and wasn't the most interesting of posts for you guys to read. This was mainly due to the fact that I basically did a mini review for each and every book in my wrap up, and so I'm going to give wrap ups another try, but make them much less wordy and detailed.

Instead, I'm simply going to list all the books I read, how many stars I rated them, and I'll link underneath them if I did a full review on it.

Hopefully this will solve my wrap up dilemma!

Life After by Katie Ganshert

Rating: Five Stars! I completely loved this one

Welcome Back by Lin Stepp:

Rating: Three Stars. I enjoyed it but it wasn't a favorite.

Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers:

Rating: One Star. Unfortunately, this book was just not for me.

Marry Me at Christmas by Susan Mallery:

Rating: Four Stars. Definitely one of my favorites in the Fool's Gold series.

Cracked Up To be by Courtney Summers:

Rating: Two stars. While I enjoyed it more than Some Girls Are, I still didn't really care for it.

Serafina and the Twisted Staff by Robert Beatty:

Rating: Three Stars. I enjoyed certain parts of the story overall, but I just find these books a tad too strange for my personal liking.

I Heart Bloomberg by Melody Carlson:

Rating: Three stars. I really enjoyed this inspirational novel, but I found it didn't have enough in the plot line to keep me fully engaged in the story. I'm hoping I'll feel differently about the rest of the series when I get to it.

Blue Ridge Sunrise by Denise Hunter:

Rating: Three Stars. I loved Denise Hunter's signature storytelling, the fact that it's a second chance romance, and the setting of the peach orchard. I found a lot of the plot line to however be problematic.

My Secret To Tell by Natalie D Richards

Rating: Four Stars. I always love Natalie's suspense/thriller YA novels, and this one was definitely no exception. The only think that kept it from being a five star novel for was the fact that unlike her amazing novel Six Months Later, I found certain parts of the mystery in this one to be kind of obvious and I'd already pieced a large amount of it together before the end of the book.

Thrill Me by Susan Mallery:

Rating: Three Stars. I enjoyed this one, and the way it's romance is slightly different from most of the other Fool's Gold novels. I wouldn't say its a favorite though.

Best of My Love by Susan Mallery:

Rating: Three Stars. Once again, I enjoyed it overall, but nothing really stood out to me in it.

A Matter of Trust by Susan May Warren:

Rating: Four Stars. This novel completely blew me away, and is definitely my favorite in the series so far.

Lizzy and Jane by Katherine Reay:

Rating: Five Stars! I loved this one, and Katherine Reay had such an amazing writing style that I literally can't wait to read more of her books in the near future.

Trauma Plan by Candace Calvert:

Rating: Four Stars. I was actually quiet surprised by how much I ended up liking this one, since I'm not usually a fan of medical romances.

Cinderella's Dress by Shonna Slayton

Rating: Four Stars. I thought this one was such a unique retelling of Cinderella, and I've also not read too many YA historical fiction novels, so this one was a pleasant surprise.

And that's all the books I read in October of 2017! I discovered a lot of amazing books this month, and I'm excited to dive head first into my November TBR list.

My favorite book I read in October was definitely Life After by Katie Ganshert, and I can't recommend it enough.

Thanks so much for reading guys! I'll see you all again on Wednesday :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Joy of Falling
