I hope your week is off to a great start! I'm still getting over a cold, but definitely thankful that I'm feeling a bit better as we move further into Holy Week and enjoying getting to spend time reflecting on Jesus' ultimate sacrifice for us all.

For today's review, I'm looking forward to sharing all about a recently released Christian suspense title, and I hope you'll all keep reading down below for today's full review.

Source: Publisher as Part of the Revell Reads Blogger Program

Publisher: Revell

Publication Date: March 12th, 2024

Genre: Christian Fiction/Christian Suspense

Series: Gossamer Falls

Synopsis:

Landry Hutton has spent three years rebuilding her life behind the secure gates of The Haven, an exclusive resort on the outskirts of Gossamer Falls, North Carolina. As the artist-in-residence, and with her pottery prized by The Haven's guests, Landry is finally ready to settle in permanently. She wants to give her daughter, Eliza, a safe home to grow up in and hires former Marine Callum Shaw to handle the construction.

Cal grew up in Gossamer Falls and always knew he would someday join his family's business. He longs for a family of his own but has almost given up on that ever happening. Landry is funny, gifted, and everything Cal could ever want in a partner, but he vows to keep his distance. Landry has a daughter and a past. Cal has been down that road before and barely survived when the woman he loved left, taking her two sons with her. He can't bear to lose like that again.

Before construction on the house can begin, Landry's pottery is destroyed in a suspicious fire. It soon becomes clear that Landry and Eliza are in grave danger--but because of whom? But, after losing one relationship, he is hesitant to try again.

My Review:

Never Fall Again is the first title in Lynn H Blackburn's brand new Gossamer Falls series, and does a wonderful job of introducing readers to this lovely town and the heartwarming characters that call it home. While I will say it didn't quite end up being what I was expecting as a novel that was marketed as Christian suspense, I ended up loving this heart wrenching story, and thought it felt like a breath of fresh air.

Instead of being all about action and suspense, a lot of the story focuses around our main characters Landry and Callum beginning a friendship, and learning to heal from past hurts in the process. Both have been through unimaginable tragedies, and both are hesitant to trust their hearts again as a result. When Landry's place of work is the target of a vicious arson, Callum soon begins to suspect she was the target. He'd do anything to keep her and her adorable daughter Eliza safe from danger, but is he truly ready to take another chance on happily ever after?

I normally like my suspense to be more nail biting, but I was quite surprised by just how much I enjoyed how this story focuses more on romance, faith and healing, and how mystery and suspense kind of just fill in on the sidelines. Landy and Callum's story was beautiful, and I ended up reading the majority of this story in only a couple of sittings. In particular, I loved Callum's family and the way they truly demonstrated serving and showing the love of Christ to others.

I will say this one was well on its way to being a five star read for me, and then the ending happened, and I was left a little disappointed. It felt like there was a  lot of build up, and then everything happened so fast with very few of the questions raised being answered in my opinion. It's still a wonderful book, I just wish the ending had been a tad stronger, and that readers were given more of a true resolution.

I would definitely still recommend it however, and I can't wait to continue on with rest of the series. Readers were given a hint at who some of the main characters might be in the upcoming books, and I'm excited for their stories.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to Revell for allowing me to read and review this title!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher (Revell) as part of the Revell Reads Blogger Program. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters I'd name a child/cat/dog/car/ etc After.

Happy Tuesday guys! I enjoyed Top Ten Tuesday so much last week, that I decided to go ahead and take part again this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish, and here's the link to the main page if you're interested in becoming a part of it: http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html Today's topic is: Ten Characters I'd Name A Child/Cat/Dog/Car/ etc After, and I think it's going to be a really fun one. First, Characters I'd Name a Pet after: 1) Katsa from Kristin Cashore's Graceling: I have to start with Katsa, since it is actually what we named our adorable black and white kitten almost a year ago. She's grown so much since this picture, but this was taken right after we decided on her name. We tried several different book characters, but Katsa is the one she loved right away, and so is what we ended up going with. 2) Rose from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academ...
