Everything's Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh Review

 Good Morning Sweet Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you've taken the time to drop on by The Preppy Book Princess today for another book review.

I'm Kirby, and I'm always excited to welcome you to my little bookish corner of the internet.

I had mentioned in a previous post that some things have been going on that have caused me to have to take a few steps back from the book community, and that has not changed.

That being said, I am definitely not going anywhere, it's just that with everything going on (most of which I can't really talk about), I can't possibly be present on my blog three times a week plus multiple times on Instagram.

I am absolutely devoted to this community, and to helping authors promote their wonderful stories, but I'm just going to have to do it on a slightly smaller scale. You will definitely still be seeing me once a week, but I'll have to see on a week to week basis for awhile if I have time to drop in more than that.

I'm not sure when things are going to get better this way, but for now I'm still looking forward to spending some time with you all when I can.

So long intro aside, I have a lovely book to share all about with you guys today. This one is releasing next month, and I can't wait to tell you all about it.

Keep reading down below for today's full review.

Everything's Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh:

Source: Publisher via NetGalley

Publisher: Thomas Nelson

Publication Date: June 10th, 2025

Genre: Contemporary/Clean Romance/Christian Fiction

Synopsis:

Sometimes what you think you want and what you actually want turn out to be different things . . .

Rosie Waterman has one to become a working actor. But lately, that hasn't been working out. When she loses her apartment and her job on the same day, she does what she always does--puts herself out there, ready to find the next big thing. But a trip home makes her realize that while she's been struggling to make this dream come true, all her friends have become real adults with careers and weddings and babies on the way. Rosie's been at this for years, and she has nothing to show for it. But how does she simply let go of her dream?

When she's offered a job as the director of a regional theatre's production of Cinderella, she jumps at the chance--even though she's only directed in college and the job is in Door County, Wisconsin, and not in New York. She has no other offers, and at least she'll be getting paid to do something theatrical. But when she arrives, she quickly realizes that the "regional theatre" is actually in a retirement community, and the "actors" are actually senior citizens with no acting experience whatsoever.

Working on the show presents new challenges, forcing Rosie to learn how to step up and be the leader this fledgling theatre troupe needs. The more time she spends with her new cast, the more she begins to rethink what it means to dream big, especially when that big dream hasn't turned out to be at all what she thought it would be. It's not at all what she expected, but could it be exactly what she needs?

My Review:

If I'm being honest, I went into this one a little hesitant as Courtney Walsh has been kind of hit or miss for me in the past. Some of her earlier books remain my favorites, but I haven't felt the same about some of her later releases. However, I'm happy to say that Everything's Coming Up Rosie is an adorable and heartwarming clean contemporary that will give readers all the feels, and was everything I could have wanted.

As someone who has long been fascinated by the theatre, I loved the fact that our main protagonist (Rosie) is someone who has spent years trying to break into the broadway scene in New York with, unfortunately, not the greatest results. When a job offer sounds too good to be true, she jumps at the chance to move to a different state and try her hand at directing for the first time ever. Only, she didn't read the fine print that she's directing a production at a senior citizen's retirement community, which is a far cry from where she thought she'd be in her career by now. However, theatre is theatre and Rosie soon discovers a whole new community of friends and family in an unexpected place, including a man who seems to be everything she could have ever wanted. Is it possible that the dream she thought she wanted isn't everything it's cracked up to be after all?

A heartwarming story about following your heart and learning to let others in, Everything's Coming Up Rosie is a well written and relatable contemporary that touched my heart, and stayed with me long after I finished it. It was hysterically funny, it was swoon worthy and adorable, and it even had me tearing up a bit as Rosie learns to tackle the insecurities she's carried with her from the past.

If you enjoy clean romances that focus around the theatre and include plenty of hijinks and hilarity, then this might just be the book you've been waiting for.

Final Rating: 4/5.

I adored this one and can't possibly recommend it enough.

Thanks so much to Thomas Nelson for allowing me to advance read and review this title!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher (Thomas Nelson) via NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
