Top 5 Wednesday: Settings You Want To See More Of

Hello Fellow Readers :)

I hope everyone's having a great week so far, and I'm excited to be back here today with another Top 5 Wednesday Post.

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme that was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey on YouTube, and is now moderated by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes, who's also from YouTube. The group communicates through goodreads, and here's the link to the page if you're interested in learning more about it:

This week's topic is a fun one, as it is Settings You Want To See More Of, and let me tell you there's many settings and places I would love to see more of from my favorite books, and I'm excited to share those with you today.

1) Narnia from The Chronicles Of Narnia by C.S. Lewis:

The Narnia books were one of my first experiences with falling head over heels for a series, and part of that love was definitely the setting. Who wouldn't want there to be a magical world that can be accessed through a wardrobe, and I would honestly love to see another series set in Narnia again. I know this is highly unlikely, but that doesn't meant I still don't want to see it.

2) Dystopian Regency Era

This may be a bit of an odd choice, but I really loved the setting Lia Habel used for her Gone With The Respiration duology. It's set in the year 2195, but the world has returned to the regency times, and it's simply called "New Victoria." I thought this was such a unique take on both a regency era setting, and a dystopian setting, and I would love to see more books like this in the future.

3) Time Travel

I love the fact that there has been so many more YA time travel books lately, as I think it's such an awesome setting for a novel, but I would honestly love to see even more. I love how with time travel books generally there is many different settings employed throughout the one novel, and I love the chance to get to explore multiple setting throughout one great story.

4) The West

I often really enjoy books that are set in the west, or the prairies/frontier, and while I've read many adult books that have this setting, I noticed that there doesn't seem to be a lot of YA books with this particular setting. I've heard that Rae Carson's Walk On Earth A Stranger has this type of setting, and so I'm really excited to read that one. I would still love to see more books set in the west in the future though, and hopefully this will happen.

5) New York At Christmas

My final pick is a pretty specific one, and that is New York at Christmas. Everyone who knows me knows that I'm obsessed with Christmas books in general, and there's always something so special about Christmas books that are set in beautiful New York City. In particular, I'd love to see some YA contemporaries with this setting, and I can guarantee those would be my perfect kind of read.

That's it for my picks for this week. I'd love to hear what all you guys chose, if you took part in this week's topic. :)

Thanks for reading everyone, and I'll see you all in my next post.

  3. I love time travel books, and that was honestly the first one that came to my mind when I saw this week's topic. Yay for you choosing the west as well, have you read Walk On Earth A Stranger Yet? I've heard it's really good, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Thanks so much for commenting!

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

First Line Friday: Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake

Happy Friday Friends :) There's so many reasons I'm excited that it's once again Friday. I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything. Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
