And Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow Canadians!
We actually ended up celebrating Thanksgiving early this year. On Friday we enjoyed celebrating with my mom and stepdad and that side of the family, and on Saturday we celebrate with my dad and his fiance, and that side of the family. It was an awesome weekend, and I love being able to spend time with family at the holidays.
However, since it is Canadian Thanksgiving, it only seemed appropriate that I participate in the Thanksgiving Book Tag.
I've done lots of themed book tags over the years, but I've never actually done a Thanksgiving themed one before. I decided that needed to change this year, and so I'm going to participate in this fun tag that was created by Fangirlscity and that I discovered over on the sassy geek.
1. Bread- What book is purely fluff, and has no real plot line?
I couldn't stand this story when I finally got around to reading it a few months ago. I thought the main love interest was toxic and abusive, and that the content was inappropriate for a ya novel. However, I also thought it was ridiculous with no true plot to follow, and that it was just mainly stuffed full of fluff and filler content.
2. Turkey- What book made you want to fall asleep?
I don't honestly know why I wanted to read this book in the first place, but I was miserable the whole way through. I found the plot dragged excruciatingly, and that most of the time I was barely following what was actually happening. I read this back a few years ago when I refused to dnf any book, and I would have been much happier if I'd just given up on it instead of forcing myself to suffer the whole way through it.
3. Gravy- What book makes the whole series worth reading?
I loved the entire Doon series, but the third book was by far my favorite. I was totally wrapped up in the story line, and I loved how it was completely different from the rest of the series.
4. Stuffing- What book is stuffed full of action scenes?
One of my favorite fantasy novels ever, I loved how action packed this one is from start to finish.
5. Mashed Potatoes- What book looked good, and then wasn’t?
I loved the cover and the synopsis of this one, and I couldn't wait to read it. I ended up being so disappointed after finishing it, and consider it one of the worst books I read in 2019. The content was atrocious, the characters were almost all insufferable, and the only things I really ended up enjoying were the writing and Owen's character.
6. Cranberries- What book has the sweetest romance?
So many choices for this one, but Finley and Beckett are two of my faves. I loved how raw and heartfelt their romance was, but also that it was full of so many quirky and adorable moments. Can't even express how much I love these two.
7. Corn- What’s the corniest book you’ve ever read?
I don't usually find a lot of Christian fiction titles that I end up disliking, but this is one of the few exceptions. The plot was ridiculous, the romance was too corny even for my standards, and the ending was implausible and completely unbelievable.
8. Green beans- What book is too long and needs to be shortened?
This isn't a terribly long book, but it felt like at least half of the book was unnecessary to the original plot of the book. I only really ended up enjoying the first half, and thought it could have been much shorter than it was.
9. Pumpkin Pie- What book do you read to get out of a reading slump?
Pretty much anything by Becky Wade or Liz Johnson could pull me out of a reading slump. I also love Kasie West's books for this purpose, and rereading the Twilight series.
10. Dog/Cat- What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food that you would steal from the table?
Probably stuffing or mashed potatoes. Those two are always my favorites.
