Side Hustle by Kaci Lane Review

 Hello Friends :)

I pray this week finds you all well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

Last week, I shared my review of Taco Truck Takedown by Kaci Lane with you all. That was the prequel novella to Kaci's Schooled on Love series, and today I'm excited to get to share my review of the first book in that same series with you all.

Side Hustle by Kaci Lane:

Source: Complimentary Copy Provided by the Author

Publisher: Kaci Lane Creations

Publication Date: December 3rd, 2020

Genre: Contemporary Romance/Adult Fiction/Clean Romance

Series: Schooled on Love

Synopsis:

She’s a Hustle app driver. He’s a detective on a case. And her most regular passenger is a criminal.

One minute Angie’s counting her tips and the next, she’s being frisked by handsome detective Trent Turner.

In different circumstances, she wouldn’t have minded the attention of those piercing blue eyes, the feel of his hands, or even the sound of his voice. Except all he was interested in was wrapping her with wires and giving her instructions through an earpiece.

Good thing she’s getting paid for this, because if there’s anything more nerve-wracking than driving a criminal while secretly working with the cops, it’s listening to a charming voice that makes her heart want to jump out of her chest…

If only this undercover job didn’t depend on Angie keeping her feelings for Trent from spiraling out of control…

(synopsis from goodreads)

My Review:

If you're looking for a realistic, gritty and emotional romance read, perhaps Side Hustle isn't the story for you. If, however, you're looking for a sassy, clean, hilarious rom com book that will have you unable to put it down, then this is definitely the one you're going to go ahead and pick up.

Angie and Trent meet under strange circumstances. Her second job driving passengers for the Hustle app has put her accidentally into connection with drug runners, and Trent is the detective trying to piece the whole case together. What starts as an undercover assignment turns into a developing romance with a whole lot of chemistry. Can these two find a way to make a relationship work that started under such strange circumstances? I can guarantee you're going to want to find out.

Told in both Angie and Trent's viewpoints, Side Hustle is full of hilarious hijinks, heartwarming moments, and plenty of action. I read almost this entire story in one sitting, and Kaci Lane is definitely becoming an author to watch out for in the clean romance genre.

Definitely go ahead and pick this one up, especially if you're looking for something lighthearted to take your mind off of everything going on in our world today.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to Kaci Lane for letting me read and review this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

Happy Friday Friends :) There's so many reasons I'm excited that it's once again Friday. I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything. Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
