Mercy Undeserved by Kristina Hall Review

Happy Friday Friends :)

I pray that this day finds you all doing well, and I want to thank you for joining me here today on The Preppy Book Princess.

I'm extremely excited for the upcoming week. My hubby and I usually take our annual vacation in September as that's always the easiest for his work schedule, and it's finally almost here.

Obviously, Covid has changed the way we will be vacationing, but nonetheless, I'm excited to have some time away with my husband, just enjoying each other's company and getting away from all the stress for a bit to celebrate our eight year wedding anniversary. I'm actually considering doing a bit of "trip report" on my blog of our trip when we get back, but I'll have to see how that ends up going.

Because I will be gone for part of the next week, I am fairly certain that I will not be doing my regular three blog posts, as I want to take time to actually enjoy my vacation.

However, I will be back soon, and in the mean time, I have an exciting new book review to share with you all today.

A couple of weeks ago, I shared my review of the first book in Kristina Hall's The Moretti Trilogy, which you can check out using the link below, and today I'm excited to get to share my review of the second book with you all.

Promises Unbroken

Keep reading for my full review.

Genre: Christian Fiction/Christian Suspense

Series: The Moretti Trilogy

Synopsis:

How much more will she lose?

Lillian Rossi had it all—a devoted husband, a new baby, and all the riches she’d dreamed of. But one January day changed everything. Now, the consequences of her late husband’s sins extend to her and her son, and Matteo, though only a baby, is the rightful heir to the Rossi empire, making him a target.

Alberto Moretti promised to protect Lillian and her son, but he well knows the cruelty and desperation of the Rossi family. He served them all too long—until God set him free.

As Lillian and Alberto are thrown together in a race to save her and Matteo’s lives, their own sins and Stefano Rossi’s plans threaten to destroy them. Will they fall prey to the danger so close behind, or will they find mercy they’ve done nothing to deserve?

My Review:

Mercy Undeserved is another action packed, faith based read from a new favorite author of mine, Kristina Hall. This one picks up right where Promises Unbroken left off, and gives readers the story of Alberto Moretti and Lillian Rossi-an unlikely but necessary pairing. As the two must work together to run from Lillian's brother in law who has been left with the family's mob business after the passing of Lillian's husband and who will stop at nothing to see Lillian, her son, and Alberto brought to an end, they will discover that His never ending mercy is the only true place they can possibly turn to.

From start to finish, this nail biting suspense story kept me on the edge of my seat, and I ended up reading the majority of it in one sitting. I love how unique the mobster NYC setting in the 1920's is in the Christian fiction market, and the author does a brilliant job of bringing the vivid setting to life in her atmospheric descriptions. I personally loved Alberto's faith journey at the end of the first book, and I loved how his struggle is clearly portrayed with the notion that coming to Christ doesn't promise an end to our problems, but rather having a strength that helps us get through them. Lillian's character did take me a bit longer to warm up to, as she's quite selfish for a good portion of the story, but her character does find the true meaning of redemption, and it added another lovely component to the story.

I can't personally recommend this one enough, and I continue to commend Kristina Hall for prioritizing Jesus and faith in each and every one of her books. I love Christian authors that answer the call to write truly "Christian" books, and this one definitely hits the mark. Definitely check this one out, and I'll be anxiously awaiting book three!

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much to Kristina Hall for allowing me to read and review this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and I look forward to sharing more blog posts with you all again in the very near future. :)
