Sold on Love by Kathleen Fuller Review

 Hello Friends :)

Happy Wednesday, and Welcome to The Preppy Book Princess.

I hope you're all enjoying your week, and also enjoying the start of summer.

Summer is never personally my favorite season, but I do feel that God has given us beautiful components of each and every season, and each one does have its unique reasons to enjoy it.

I'm currently on a couple of days off from work, and I've really been enjoying giving my house a good cleaning, curling up with some great books, and getting caught up on some book reviews.

Today my hubby and I are going to take a much needed date day, and go out of town to spend some quality time together shopping and the like.

Before we do however, I wanted to jump on here and share a new book review with you all.

Today's review is for the upcoming third release from Kathleen Fuller's Maple Falls small town romance series.

The first two were kind of hit or miss for me, but I was still hoping I'd end up enjoying this one.

You can read my reviews of the first two titles using the links below:

Sold on Love by Kathleen Fuller:

Source: Publisher via NetGalley

Publisher: Thomas Nelson

Publication Date: August 2nd, 2022

Genre: Christian Fiction/Contemporary/Small Town Romance

Series: Maple Falls

Synopsis:

She’s a high-fashion realtor; he’s a low-maintenance mechanic. What on earth could they have in common?

Dressed in designer labels and cruising around town in her red Mercedes, workaholic realtor Harper Wilson presents the picture of success in charming Maple Falls. But Harper’s carefully cultivated image is resting on a shaky foundation. With a sudden drought in sales, she’s starting to see her professional dreams—along with her posh lifestyle—slipping away.

Car trouble brings her to mechanic Rusty Jenkins, and their unlikely friendship is taken to the next level when the laid-back Rusty allows her to give him a makeover for a charity bachelor auction. Harper soon discovers that beneath the town mechanic’s wild beard and grease-stained clothing lies a true Southern gentleman—someone with a kind heart and dreams of his own. Their chemistry is undeniable, but as they get closer, past fears and relationships start to creep in, reminding them of just how much is at stake when carefully constructed facades fall apart.

Maybe their worlds aren’t so separate after all. And maybe covering up who you really are keeps you from discovering what was always meant to be.

My Review:

Sold on Love is the third installment in Kathleen Fuller's Maple Falls small town romance series, and it's my personal favorite of the series so far. It has a fun opposites attract dynamic that's at the heart of the plot and romance, and I honestly ended up enjoying both Harper and Rusty as main characters.

Their romance starts out as an unlikely friendship, and I loved how they brought out a side in each other that they were both too scared to let anyone else see. Harper was always a character I enjoyed in the previous books, and I thought her own story definitely showcased a different side to her character that endeared her even more in my eyes. Rusty was such a swoon worthy male protagonist, and I loved how much his family meant to him, and how he dealt with such insecurities over giving romance a chance when he'd been hurt in the past.

While I didn't really love either of the first two books in the series, I did enjoy seeing the characters from the previous titles pop up again and again throughout this one. Something I wasn't expecting was the side story arc that involves Harper's mother, and my heart truly broke for everything their family had gone through, and had never had a chance to heal from.

All in all, I wholeheartedly enjoyed this one, and the only negative I really had is that I continue to wish this series had an actual faith element, instead of just a few superficial mentions of attending church. If a book is labeled as Christian fiction, then I want to see Jesus in it!

Other than that, it was a sweet, small town romance with likeable protagonists, enjoyable secondary characters, a lovely small town setting, and an engaging plot. I enjoyed it from start to finish, and would definitely recommend it to fellow fans of small town romances.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to Thomas Nelson for allowing me to advance read and review this one!

I received a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher (Thomas Nelson) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)
