With Every Memory by Janine Rosche Review

 Happy Monday Friends :)

I pray you all had a wonderful weekend, and I'm so thankful you chose to stop by The Preppy Book Princess for another book review this morning.

I'm Kirby, and I'm so excited you're here. If you're new here, I love getting to share my reviews of primarily Christian fiction with you all, although there is still a few secular genres I do enjoy reading as well.

I love getting to use my blog to connect to other readers and other members of the book community, and if you've read and/or want to read the title I'm sharing about today, I'd love for you to drop me a comment at the bottom of the post.

That being said, let's go ahead and dive right into today's review.

My Review:

With Every Memory was my first experience with a Janine Rosche novel, and I was quite surprised by just how impactful and heavy hitting this women's fiction title was. I appreciated the content warning at the beginning that gave readers a heads up to the fact that the book dealt with heavy hitting topics like adultery, loss of a child, sexual assault and divorce. Obviously, that being said, this was not an easy read to get through, but it was a realistic one, and I thought the author took the appropriate steps to handle the topics tastefully and authentically as much as was possible to do so.

The primary focus of the story is on a woman named Lori who is dealing with a traumatic brain injury after a tragic car accident that took her son's life, left her unable to remember the past eight years of her life, and left a giant fissure down the middle of the family that used to seem to be able to conquer anything together. While the reader follows Lori's POV, we're also given the POV of Lori's teen daughter Avery, who is left reeling from the death of her beloved twin brother, and from the collapse of the happy family her family no longer is.

Janine Rosche's writing style drew me in right from the beginning, and I was quite surprised by just how quickly I made it though this one. The premise is unique and engaging, the characters took me awhile to warm up to, but were represented realistically and it was overall an authentic portrayal of the grieving process, and how it can affect every single person in its own way.

I would definitely not hesitate to pick up a title from this author in the future, but I do have to say that I wish the faith element had been a little more predominant throughout. While I appreciated that it's included at all, with how dark the content was in this one, it needed a lot more Jesus to counteract the darkness with His light.

Still a pretty amazing story that I would highly recommend, just make sure you realize this is a bit more of grisly women's fiction title, and not a light and airy beach type read.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to Revell Publishing for allowing me to read and review this one!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher (Revell) as part of the Revell Reads Blogger Program. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Thanks for reading everyone! God Bless :)

My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often.
