Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter Review

 Good Morning Sweet Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you've taken the time to drop on by The Preppy Book Princess today for another book review.

I'm Kirby, and I'm excited to welcome you to my little corner of the internet.

At the start of last year, I made a bit of a bucket list for 2024.  enjoyed checking off some of the items on the list as the months went on, and one of the items I had included was to read two new to me classic novels.

I adore classic novels, but I can kind of get into the habit of just rereading my favorites over and over again instead of giving new ones a try.

A few months prior, I read The Wizard of Oz for the first time (review here), and I adored it. I decided to go with a children's classic for my second pick as well, and I finally got around to reading Pollyanna.

I've been wanting to read this book for the longest time, and it was everything I could have possibly hoped for.

I hope you'll all keep reading down below for today's full review.

My Review:

Pollyanna is a timeless tale about a young orphaned girl who is sent to live with her rich aunt that she's never met before. A wonderful tale about a little girl who's endless optimism encourages everyone to see the best in any situation, no matter what they may be facing. I'm only sorry it's taken me this many years to finally pick this one up, as it was a delightful read that definitely left a smile on my face.

Pollyanna has already faced many hardships at the young age of eleven, but instead of letting it drag her down, she instead encourages other to play the "Glad" game with her. A game that reminds us all that there's always something to be glad about no matter what. The story is a wonderful ray of light in this dark world, and is still very much relevant today.

I adored this sweet story so much, and loved how much Pollyanna herself reminded me of Anne from Anne of Green Gables. If they ever met, they would definitely be kindred spirits.

I'm looking forward to continuing on to the next title, and also watching the Disney movie. As a huge Haley Mills fans, I'm actually surprised I've never watched it before.

Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a sweet and heartwarming tale about the importance of seeing joy in any and all circumstances.

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
