The Pumpkin Head Mystery by Gertrude Chandler Warner and Robert Papp Review

 Good Morning Sweet Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you've taken the time to drop on by The Preppy Book Princess today for another book review.

I'm Kirby, and I love getting to use my little corner of the internet to share bookish content with you all.

I read mainly Christian fiction, but I do read across a wide variety of other genres as well. Once in awhile, I decide to dive back into children's fiction, as I had so many favorite series within this genre growing up, and sometimes it's nice to get to revisit those.

I also don't often get the opportunity to review many titles from this genre on my blog, so today I'm looking forward to getting to do that.

The Boxcar Children was one of my absolute favorites from my younger years, and I love that they are continuing to add new titles within this series. When I stumbled across a fall themed title, I knew I needed to give it a try.

Now I can't wait to share a quick review of this fun title with you all.

The Pumpkin Head Mystery by Gertrude Chandler Warner:

My Review:

It was a bit of a blast from the past for me to pick up one of these titles from a much, beloved childhood favorite series of mine. I obviously haven't kept up with the titles for a number of years, but this one intrigued me as it fit the current season, and I decided to take a trip down memory lane, and reconnect with some beloved favorite characters.

While I will say that this one wasn't quite as good as the original books that were actually written by Gertrude Chandler Warner, it was still a pretty adorable read in its own right, and I thought the characters stayed pretty true to what I remember them being like in the earlier titles. The mystery was pretty easy to figure out as an adult, but I could see young readers having a blast trying to piece everything together.

It's a little different to see this series set in more contemporary times, but I enjoyed it nevertheless, and wouldn't hesitate to pick up another title if I'm feeling nostalgic again in the future.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters I'd name a child/cat/dog/car/ etc After.

Happy Tuesday guys! I enjoyed Top Ten Tuesday so much last week, that I decided to go ahead and take part again this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish, and here's the link to the main page if you're interested in becoming a part of it: http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html Today's topic is: Ten Characters I'd Name A Child/Cat/Dog/Car/ etc After, and I think it's going to be a really fun one. First, Characters I'd Name a Pet after: 1) Katsa from Kristin Cashore's Graceling: I have to start with Katsa, since it is actually what we named our adorable black and white kitten almost a year ago. She's grown so much since this picture, but this was taken right after we decided on her name. We tried several different book characters, but Katsa is the one she loved right away, and so is what we ended up going with. 2) Rose from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academ...
