Lonestar Angel by Colleen Coble

Hello all my fellow booklovers. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I'm back today with a new book review, after taking a couple of days off to spend time with my hubby and my family for my birthday. It was nice getting away for a couple of days, and enjoying some quality time with my hubby. We spent a couple of days in a city a few hours from us, enjoyed relaxing in the pool at the hotel, and I did some much needed clothes shopping. However, the best part of our trip hands down was getting to visit Chapters for my birthday. I love love love getting to shop there, and we don't have one in our city. We do have a Coles, which I also love, but there's just something about getting to be in the massive shelves of books that compose Chapters that makes me one very happy girl. I will be sharing in a later post my book haul from this, but today I want to do a review on Lonestar Angel by Colleen Coble. I did an earlier review post on the first three books in this series here: http://www.thepreppybookprincess.blogspot.ca/2016/01/lonestar-series-by-colleen-coble.html

And today I'm here to finish reviewing the last book in the series. I now only have the novella to finish out the series, and I'm sad to see it end as I've really been enjoying it. Here is my review.

Right away with this book I could see a difference from the first three. For anyone unfamiliar with this series, Colleen Coble wrote the first three as contemporary suspense novels that included the romance element of a marriage of convenience. In the first three novels, the three respective women, come to a situation in their lives that is putting not only themselves, but also their children in danger, and as such, agree to marry someone who can help them out of their predicament. Before I continue on with this review, here is the synopsis from goodreads about Lonestar Angel:

"Eden s hope is rekindled when Clay delivers astounding news: their daughter has been found.

Five years ago Eden and Clay Larson s baby was stolen and never found. Eden blamed herself, Clay lost himself in work. Their young and rocky marriage ended. Or so Eden thought.

Now Eden s moved to a new town. She s found faith and is trying to rebuild her life. She s even dating again a sweet guy who plans to marry her someday. But then Clay arrives out of the blue and delivers shocking news: they re still married. What s more, Clay has been searching for Brianna all this time. And he believes he s found her: their daughter is in Bluebird, Texas, at a youth ranch.

To uncover the truth, Eden and Clay sign on as counselors at Bluebird Ranch. Working together, they rediscover their love for each other. But danger is closing in Eden, Clay, and their young charges are in jeopardy. As they fight to save their family, Eden realizes that God has been fighting for them all along. And His plans are for a more abundant life than they"ve dared to hope."

Right away I could see a main difference in this book from the others, was the fact that the main couple, Eden and Clay, were not truly entering into a marriage of convenience. They had met while on vacation, Eden ended up pregnant, and as such, her and Clay ended up marrying for the sake of the baby. Six weeks after their beautiful daughter, Brianna, was born, tragedy struck. An individual snuck into their house and kidnapped her, and a ransom note was sent. Unfortunately the exchange did not go as planned, and Eden and Clay are left to believe that their beloved daughter has died, and both take different measures to get on with their lives. Clay throws himself into work, but also holds strong to the belief that just somehow, their daughter may still be alive. Eden chooses to run away, and start fresh in a new community, and file for divorce from Clay.

Five years later, Eden is astonished to see Clay approach her in a restaurant, claiming not only are they still legally married, but that Brianna is still alive, and they must do what is necessary to save her. Pretending to still be a happily, married couple, and taking a joint job as counselors to five little girls, one of whom is believed to be Brianna, at a ranch for children dealing with abuse and neglect, may be their only chance to save their daughter.

As I mentioned in my last review of this series, I really really love the glimpses that the reader is given into the lives of the previous couples mentioned in the series. In this novel, the couple from the first book, Lonestar Sanctuary, Allie and Rick, are the couple that run the ranch where Eden and Clay relocate to, to find their daughter. I also loved the chemistry that you can see building between Eden and Clay, but suffers from past issues that were never resolved. When they come to Bluebird Ranch, they expect to find Brianna, and move on with their lives, but instead find themselves responsible for the wellbeing of five, adorable little girls, who need love and attention in their lives in the worst way. Furthermore, the nightmare of the whole kidnapping is far from over, and they find themselves the victims of walking into a complicated web of deceit, lies and betrayal, spun by a conniving individual that neither of them ever saw coming.

I for one, found myself completely blown away by the mystery element in this novel. I had no clue where Colleen Coble was going with it, and found myself second guessing most characters mentioned, but still found myself completely blown away when the ending was revealed.
While I gave the first three novels in this series four starts, I gave this one five stars as it was by far my favorite of the series. I loved both main characters, and reading about their fight for justice, and how the mystery was tied into events that neither of them had ever seen coming. Colleen Coble has written a really intriguing novel that shows the importance of hope and faith, and never giving up, and I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for inspirational, suspense or romance novels.

My favorite quote: "(Some changes aren't always for the better.) Only if we allow ourselves to be bitter and resentful over our lot in life. Sometimes we have to ask how we can allow this to make us a better person. There's always a choice in how we react."

Thanks for reading everyone, I will be back later this week to review a book that completely blew my mind, and I can't wait to share it with you all. Happy Sunday Everyone :)

This is not a sponsored post. All opinions are my own. The book was not provided for review.

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...
